A melange of beauty and history. Inspite of the fact that this is made of sandstone, it has withstood the winds of change.. in all ways.

A shame that we could not enter inside.

Never miss this sight if you are in Moscow.

And a big thanks to the Russian Govt.... both past and present for taking the effort to maintain this beauty.

It was great to finally see this iconic building up close and it didn't disappoint. It was a welcome splash of colour against the drab November weather

St Basil's Cathedral is just breathtaking - not only from the outside but also inside too. Won't bore you with the history - you can find that out for yourselves or read other reviews. We walked into Red Square through the Resurrection Gate and there it is, at the opposite end. I think I know where Disneyland got their ideas for their fairy tale castle - its here! Stunning colours and designs and please go inside. Nothing like a normal church or cathedral - no large areas just a series of wonderful little towers and domes, all decorated differently. As others say, its stunning and very moving. The views across the Square from the cathedral are great too - and looking into the city on the opposite side. So go! Its well worth it.

It is situated right on the Red Square and for sure is the most valuable part of it (only my opinion). I was also inside there, it is not expansive, but really good - it is recently renovated.
Do you know this legend about St Bazils' Cathedral. When it was finally built Tzar Ivan the Terrible blinded architectures, so they won't be able to build such a beauty anywhere in the world.

The cathedral is absolute stunning! We traveled in the winter so bring warm clothes. As they say in Ireland, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes!
