The Tretyakov gallery is the real treasure of Russian Art. You can see all the way of Russian Art from the very beginnings at XI-XII centuries (and yes, the Holy Trinity icon by Andrey Rublev is here).
I try to visit Gallery every time when I become in Moscow. I whish you amazing date with Beauty and Art.

I stayed in Moscow for a few days and visited the Tretyakov Gallery on two separate days along with the Pushkin Fine Arts Museum.
I am now a very great admirer of Russian painters and galleries (I have visited galleries since in St Petersburg, , Tolyatti, Saratov, Ekaterinburg and Kiev(in Ukraine)- all of them good quality galleries) I like especially the painters Serov, Levitaan, and Repin. The quality of the exhibited work in this gallery is outstanding by any measure and the traditional building itself is very good too.. The building has a pleasant red exterior and there is a cafeteria in the basement and entry to the building is via the basement. The building is located in a pleasant street among other narrow streets with lots of interesting small shops and restaurants and across the bridge from Red Square. This area of Moscow reminded me of parts of Paris.
I would like to go back to the Tretyakov Gallery.

I know next to nothing about Russian art and my visit was a real eye opener. Several hundred years of art are covered and it made me want to learn more about many of these very talented artists.
