“Must must must see!!!!”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

This was a museum I use to go to, when I was a child and now, so many years later, I came back to Moscow and it was a must visit place on my list. I have to say, that I appreciate it even more now. It has an outstanding collection of Russian art school painters from around 18th to 20th century. It took me 4 hours to see the gallery and even that was not enough. Of course, you could spend as much time as you desire or your schedule permits. They have an audio guide available and it could be very handy for you to understand a meaning of some paintings. i am not a fun of taking pictures inside an art galleries. I think, it distracts you from enjoing whole visit experience.
They have a small store on the ground floor, so you can pick up some postcards, bookmarks, posters, puzzles, books ,etc. There is a wardrobe service (free of charge).
So, if you are a painting fan or just want to introduce yourself to the Russian painting school, "Tretyakov Gallery" is must, must, must to see.

it is a very good gallery and some of the paintings on display are quite good but I'm not a painting fan and not a museum fan and not a gallery fan. for someone who is, you should definitely go there.

I don't like museums and galleried like this one, but my textbook from school about russian language, was sort of a guide to Moscow, and they recommended the gallery. The gallery was huge and looked really nice. Many people at different ages were inside. The paintings were impressive, but for me the ticket was kinda expensive (400 for both ticket and being allowed to take pictures). After 20 rooms ot became really boring, but I am not going to rate it low just because I went to a place I don't usually like. Trying to give a review and be impartial - a cool place :)
