Just returned from a week long vacation. We stayed at the Maxima Zarya and was pleasantly surprised. Unlike a previous review, we paid to upgrade our room from Standard to Business Class. For a minimal fee, the upgrade was well worth it. There are too many differences to compare the rooms, but the Business Class room (which I would call a suite) was excellent. We had air conditioning so based on previous reviews, you will want to confirm if the room has air conditioning with the front desk personnel. Everything was great about our room. The bedroom was connected to a sitting/lounge room with a TV in each room. The beds were extremely comfortable. Our room also had a small refrigerator. The shower was great and shampoo/conditioner was provided/replenished daily. Our bathroom had a deep tub to shower. There were no grab bars, so be careful when stepping out from the tub because the tub was very deep. The bathroom also had a heating towel rack. I was shocked at how great the blow dryer worked (they did not have a good blow dryer in the Standard room). I cannot emphasize enough to bring plenty of kleenex. My experience both in the hotel and anywhere else I used the restroom was that the toilet paper is rough. All the soft kleenex I brought sure came in handy. (note: even the extra toilet paper/kleenex we brought at the grocery store right around the corner felt rough as well). The hotel provides a laundry service if needed and they clean the rooms every day (they change sheets once/week). They have a variety of TV channels for different languages. The only 3 channels where English is spoken is CNBC, Bloomberg West and BBC. TV is not great but we were on vacation so it did not matter. Breakfast buffet was included and included everything but no pancakes or waffles. The only eggs offered are hard boiled eggs. There is plenty of everything else including fruit, cereal/oatmeal, yogurt, bread assortments, juices, tea/coffee and more. You walk away from breakfast full. There is a grocery store right around the corner and a pharmacy is only a 2 minute walk away. The subway station is a 5 minute walk as well. A few suggestions. When we arrived at the airport, we did not use any of the private drivers to take us to our hotel. We went straight to the car rental desk. Based on the day/time you arrive, the drive from the airport to the hotel can take up to 90 minutes. Lots and lots and lots of traffic. We had an excellent cab driver. My husband paid between 1750-1950 rubles each way. I was amazed at how safe I felt in the subway. I was lucky that my husband is fluent in Russian. You will be challenged if you are not fluent or with someone who is fluent in Russian, so you may want to check out private tour guides or sign up for tours. You will need a universal adaptor for your ipad/iphone and you can purchase it at any SUYAZ COMMUNICATIONS center. Any time you use a restroom, you must pay and don't be shocked if you walk into a an occasional stall that has no toilet (and in those cases, you have to pay for toilet paper). We did not drink the tap water. We bought a jug of water from the local grocery store and it worked just fine. Make sure you get the flat water (not mineral water). You will love the food. The entire trip was so memorable and this hotel was part of our wonderful experience. Enjoy!

have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel , we arrived at 7am and were allowed to check in straight away which was very helpful and had also been given a free upgrade on our rooms which were lovely and spacious . the hotel is a 5 min walk to the underground and only 8 stops to the centre of moscow . it is set in a nice street which was very quiet at night so no problem sleeping at all in a very comfy bed . breakfast was included and was very good with plenty of variety for everyone , we also ate at the hotel one night after having the meal we wish we had eaten there some more as it was fantastic and not over priced at all . the staff were also very helpful and all spoke very good english all in all i cant praise the hotel enough for our wonderful stay thank you

Just had 4 nights at this hotel and overall it was a very nice, clean comfortable place. We arrived at 7am and we were allowed to check in early which was fantastic as it meant we could get straight on with our holiday! All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful (especially Anastasia-Trainee front desk) and couldn't do enough to help if you took the time to explain what it was you wanted help with. Plenty of food on offer at breakfast and very good quality. we ate in the restaurant on one occasion and found the food very reasonably priced and extremely tasty and well presented. (It is strange that you get all you food together ie starters and main but that is the Russian way! also the clearing of the tables before everyone has finished eating but again that is the way they do it there!) Hotel very clean, rooms very clean and comfortable, all in all would definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel has decent sized rooms. We had a triple...with two bedrooms. Shower is excellent. However there is no air con...which wasn't great. Location isn't great..but it is much cheaper than most central hotels in Moscow, which is a very expensive city. Metro is a 10 minute walk...but not good if you are on your own as the streets are quite quiet and isolated. A very clean hotel with helpful staff...but they over charge for taxis to the airport so beware!!!..

When I stayed in this hotel it was the end of June and very hot and humid. I arrived to find that the small lift was out of order and I had to carry my case up three flights of stairs, but hey, no problem, I was already dripping with perspiration from the metro and the long walk to the hotel. However, I was dismayed to find that there was no air conditioning in the room and opening the window did almost nothing to improve the situation. The room was spartan and would be considered a budget hotel in most western european countries that you would expect to pay around half the price for and get a much better service. The wi-fi service was barely usable and crashed after 6pm when more guests were trying to get online. Breakfast was the only saving grace as it was better than at many Russian hotels and was included in the price. Outside of the hotel the proximity to the Botanical gardens was appreciated as they provide a nice place to go for a walk or run.

Stayed for 3 nights late June. If you intend to walk to the hotel with wheeled suitcases from the Metro (Vladykino) make sure you take the correct exit i.e. the exit nearest the rear of the train as one previous reviewer mentioned. Follow the others who'll take a short-cut through a small park area to reach the main road, cross the zebra-crossing across a busy road and then cut across to the next road in parallel before turning left to find the hotel - about a 10 min walk. A nearby food/convenience store proved handy during our stay. Room was a decent size and the bathroom was modern with a good shower. Mattress was on the firm side and room had no air conditioning. Reception was friendly and a good selection was provided at the buffet breakfast. We didn't eat in the restaurant which looked okay but the bar on the ground floor was brilliantly lit and had no atmosphere at all. Considering the size of the hotel it was very quiet. An ATM is available that made no charge for withdrawals. Travelling to the centre of Moscow took ~15 mins with trains leaving every 4 mins with each journey regardless of distance/internal changes costing 30r (~60p). Make sure you have a metro map that uses both cyrillic and latin names and you won't go far wrong in your travels on the Metro system. We took a Taxi direct to the airport from the hotel that took ~1 hour (a lot of traffic experienced on the airport road) for 1600r (~£32). Overall a nice hotel for the price paid. Maybe a bit far from the centre of Moscow for some but the efficient Metro system compensates for this.

We have no complaints about this hotel. The room was clean, with a good size shower. Excellent breakfast, pleasant helpful staff. Ten minute walk to the Metro station, which is twenty minutes from the centre off Moscow.
When returning to the hotel make sure you use the exit nearest to the rear of the train when exiting the metro station.
Only one problem we could not find anywhere to eat nearby.
