Just returned from a 6 night stay in this hotel. The rooms were big, bright and well cleaned an presented. Large shower room & bathroom, so lots of elbow room in the shower. The breakfast was excellent, lots of choices, including fried potatoes, green beans or a Mexican mix, the usual cold cereals, good selection of meats and cheese, etc. copious amounts of coffee. The Lobby Bar offered execellent choice of snacks in place of large dinners. Will definitely stay here again & highly recommend this hotel

If you are looking for a hotel just outside the centre of Moscow, this is a great choice. It's probably worth bearing a few things in mind to help your trip run more smoothly.

1. Visa support. The hotel has included this for free when booking directly from the hotel's website, and paying in advance. Ring the hotel and ask for 'bookings' to arrange this. You need this to arrange your Russian visa.

2. If arriving at Domododevo Airport, take the airport express. Get some cash out of the machine just before getting to the train. The train takes you to 'Paveletskaya'. Follow the signs for the metro. Queue up at the ticket desk and buy a multiticket. We bought a 20 journey ticket for our 4 day stay. Just hold up your fingers to indicate how many tickets. It has the prices at the window.

3. If you don't read Cyrillic, or have a working knowledge of written Greek, make a not of the Cyrillic lettering of Chekhovskaya and Vladykino stations in advance (google Moscow metro or download a Moscow metro map to your phone in advance).

4. Take the green line to Chekhovskaya (you know you are going towards the correct line as there are green dots by the station names, the larger coloured bars can be misleading). Look out for the Cyrillic lettering of Chekhovskaya to make sure you are on the right side of the platform.

5. Take the metro for 3 stops and get off at Chekhovskaya (the grey line is linked and has a different station name, 'Tverskaya', but don't worry about that).

6. Walk towards the grey line and queue up on the side for 'Vladykino'. In Cyrillic, this starts with a 'B' followed by an upside down 'V'. Get off 7 stops later at Vladykino.

7. Print off the hotel map in advance. It is actually quite good, but you may be disorientated after your long journey. At Vladykino, turn right outside the station, go past a kebab van till you get to a housing estate, then take the left diagonal fork. Walk towards and cross the main road. You will be opposite the now defunct cinema. Turn left then almost immediately right. The map is easier to follow from here. If you can, use the GPS on your phone with google or apple maps, having downloaded the hotel address in advance; many people may find this easier than using the printed map.

With this in mind your trip should be pretty straightforward.

Breakfast was fine and better than expected in this price bracket. Several people have complained about breakfast, but this isn't the Hilton and is 4 times cheaper.

In summary a great choice in Moscow. We found the staff very helpful and friendly.

Just back from Moscow and I stayed in that hotel into a triple room with my kid (2 y.o.) wife, and mother. Staff is helpful, kind and nice (Reception, HK, Restaurant... all of them)

Metro is not too far (10 minutes walking distance), few stations to reach the city center not a big deal. Hotel has a lot of good points : quiet, clean, large room, service (we could change euros) and it has also a ATM machine on the lobby. And what about the breakfast.... simply perfect.

I will come again for sure, when I will visit next year my parents in law. This is my address right now for the future.

The two drawbacks (because nothing is perfect in that world) are : 1) impossible to go to the restaurant in family, it is a smoking place and with a kid no way. 2) They do not propose hot chocolate (or in powder) for babies.

A map of the zone could be added as service as well

Mention special for Andrey (who's front desk clerc at night, Darya, and Munisa... )

But I thank you all the staff... good job. I know a bit because it is mine also I am involved in hotel industry as well so... I will have pleasure to work with them !

Just returned from a long weekend in Moscow and I was very pleased with the Maxima Zarya. The 'budget' hotel options in Moscow are fairly limited and nearly all in the suburbs which is why one needs to (a) pick the right suburb and (b) be sure of being close to a Metro station. Many budget travellers go to one of the mega-hotels in the Izmailovo complex (eg the Gamma-Delta or Best Western Vega) but Izmailovo is a pretty grim suburb and the hotels are anonymous. And the nearby fake Kremlin and Vernisage market are very disappointing. The Maxima Zarya is just a few minutes from Vladykino Metro Station (so better placed than its sister hotel the Maxima Ibis). It is in a pleasant and very quiet suburb, with no horrid brutalist skyscrapers or factory complexes. Service is excellent: I arrived with my daughter off the BA red-eye flight and we were given our rooms for that evening at 7am! This is very uncommon. The rooms were small but comfortable; TV channels are limited but who comes to Moscow to watch hotel TV? The breakfast was varied and excellent. But I was very pleased with the price: £55 a night for a double room (single occupancy).

One downside is the lack of local eateries - and the only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that the otherwise excellent staff let themselves down by not having any idea about local restaurants (perhaps because they want to highlight their own restaurant, which is fine for a functional breakfast but not recommended for dinner). There is a decent local restaurant: a pizza place called La Roma about 10 mins away. The Maxima staff should be aware of this. But overall I was very happy.

This hotel is a good option for staying in Moscow, is in a peaceful neighborhood but just 8 minutes away from a metro station where you can take a train that takes you directly to the city centre.
Service was great, staff both in reception and restaurant were very kind and helpful.
Our room was very spacious and clean, with a lot of amenities and everything necessary for a comfortable stay.
Breakfast was better than expected, having a great variety and good quality food.
I undoubtedly recommend this hotel if you are staying in this wonderful city.

We spent 3 nights here and have no complaints with the hotel.

Easy walking distance to the metro (even in snow!), lots of little local shops, restaurant not fantastic but OK and catered for vegetarians with no problem, huge choice at breakfast.

Area was fine during the day but I would not have liked to be walking around at night, not that we say anything but it is a built up residential area and we would not have felt safe.

Very far from Moscow Domodedovo Airport - took us 3 hours one way and 2 hours the other!!!

10 minute walk to metro and only 20 minutes into centre. Nice good sized rooms. Breakfast was excellent with varied choice everyday.

Business centre was closed on weekends so unless you have your own laptop you have no internet access.
I was given a smoking room even though we'd requested non smoking and they refused to upgrade unless we paid extra.

Room Tip: Make sure you request non smoking
