We were put into this Soviet monster for a few days on a business trip, and were almost immediately disappointed. The building is old, huge, with smoke and the smell of smoke almost in every room,. even those labelled 'smoke-free'.
Russians suggest they the hotel had been redone recently, but it is not true: carpets are old, and there was rust in my bath.
Breakfast is very Russian (heavy), the foyer is full of swinders trying to do business, and also prostitutes who seem to be regulars.
Although the hotel is close to the metro station, it does take half an hour by metro to the centre.
The restaurants in the building are not very good, thought the Chinese was reasonable.

Room Tip: the best thing about the rooms is that you can open the window; though it is quite noisy

After reading other reviews on here & other sites I went to the hotel with an open mind,ok traveling to Moscow in the winter is cold, but there is a lot less tourists around. Hotel Check-in was very quick, with staff that spoke broken English and were extremely friendly, the hotel room was basic(yes maybe redecoration, but it's typical old style Russia) but clean, warm and had everything in needed,There was a large selection at Breakfast and the food was of good quality. But beware the other restaurants & Bars in the Hotel are expensive, but so is the rest of Moscow. But the Location of the hotel is a winner, with a right turn out of the hotel and 5-10mins walk down the road to the closest Metro Station. I didn't pay a lot to stay here so didn't expect 5*,book & go with an open mind & hopefully you'll be happy as I was.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room.

this mammoth hotel is the best option if you are attending an exhibition..walking distance to the ground..a bit tricky when it snows though..a superb buffet spread and a great wifi system compliment this place..there is a subway in the hotel..the shawarma stall outside the hotel is delicious and helps after a long day when its snowing..

Hotel Cosmos is an Old 5 star Hotel in Moscow. The hotel has a very basic, ugly appearance on the outside but better looking on the inside. Would not recommend it, it was an average experience. The staff is not very friendly. The location is right outside a metro station. Food was not good. The view of the city from some of the rooms is really nice so try to make sure you take a room on one of the top floors of the hotel.

I’ve stayed in this hotel twice this year, the first time was a recommendation from a college and on the second time it was the only hotel close to the Russian conference that I visited. The rooms are very basic. It’s an old hotel – Russian style and bearable. The breakfast is by far the worst I have ever had and I just skip it automatically. For me a breakfast without no Vegetables is awful. Even the eggs are with so much oil it’s just not eatable. The Hotel is mainly for tourist and since they have so many rooms. You often wait even 20 minutes in the reception. You need to show every time your card to a guard once entering the elevator and in the main floor there is a “night club” (if know what night club means in Moscow) there is a subway station 3 minute walk from the hotel, which is very comfortable. But it’s an hour far from the city center and very far from both airports. Unless you are in business trip on budget – make yourself a big favor and stay away from this hotel.
