“Good value for business travellers”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Located at the outskirts of Moscow, yet 15 min metro ride to the city centre. There are 4 giant hotels next to each other, each with approximately 1500 rooms. The area looks dubious but it is safe. The lobby gives you the feeling of an airport instead of a hotel. The staff is nice for russian standards.

The hotel offers a big continental breakfast offers with everything you would need. The rooms are of standard size. They are clean and includes all amenities.

Downside is instead of a queen (or king) size bed, they put 2 single beds together.

I think it is ideal for business travellers and for people who don't plan to spend time at the hotel.

i've stayed there twice and thoroughly enjoyed it.it isn't in the city center ,but it takes only 10 min.to get there by underground(station is 2min walk)the staff is very friendly and helpful.the rooms we stayed in had great views ,they were very clean . as for the beds, they were the most comfortable ones we slept in.there was new furniture, fridge, hairdryer and other things to feel at home.our flight home was at 6p.m and we left our luggage in left luggage office free of charge, which was very handy as we could go to the city center and have some more good time there

Very happy with this hotel. it is a Best Western brand with distinctive Best Western quality and consistent standard. No frills hotel, but got all the basics right and MORE. It is a bit old and huge hotel built during the Olympics, but is refurbished by Best Western. Although the lobby and furnitures are old fashioned, the bed is very comfy (with 2 pillows), the room is clean, the shower hot and water pressure strong, amenities are complete from hair dryer to toiletries to safety deposit box inside the room. But the MORE is the FASTEST wifi internet in any hotel I have been in the world (FB and instagram all you can of your day's pics, talk with family on viber, watch Youtube, etc.), and the breakfast buffet spread is awesome (hot food, cold food, egg station where they cook omelete upon order, salad bar, yoghurt, fruits, American and local food, etc.) ! It also has an ironing room provided in every floor which is so convenient! English speaking reception is also a big help. Staff were also courteous and friendly (obviously trained well, as this doesn't come natural in Russia).

Although the location is not central, it is 5 mins. walk to the Metro, and very safe area (you can walk freely). There are neighborhood 24 hour grocery stores, restaurants, and a small mall nearby where there is KFC, although I would go for the traditional food from the delis.

As we book a private tour, we were picked up by car every day,so the location was not an issue. We also took the metro, and you can be in Red Square in a few stops, and one change, about 20 mins. (can't remember as we were with our guide). It is not very easy to naivgate though as everything is in Cryrillic. Metro is Moscow is, I feel, quite safe though, once you get your bearings. But just like in any Big city, you just need to watch out for pick pockets, but I did not feel unsafe though unlike in Italy or even France.

There are also souvenier shops at the lobby, where the prices were comparable to the shops in Arbat. The foreign exchange is also much better than the airport, although you can still get slightly better rates in the city. But it is already not bad.

I would, in fact, now look for the Best Western brand in my future travels after my experience here. If your looking for good value hotel, I recommend this hotel for business or leisure.

The hotel is located quite far from the city centre but well connected by the excellent metro service (5 minutes from the hotel). The hotel is comfortable, good service in English, nice buffet. The room eas big and nice.

Room Tip: Upper floors - less noisy and nice landscape.

Check-in was pleasant, the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small, but well-maintained and clean. The shower was difficult to get in and out of, I would not recommend it for people with mobility issues. Bottled water was provided. Security measures in the hotel seemed above-average.

The money savings was definitely worth the location. A metro station is close by and a 20-minute metro ride will take you right to the Red Square. There are also a few restaurants in the area. There is a great souvenir market (Izmailovsky Market) within walking distance.

We were accidentally overcharged for our stay, but we were promptly refunded the difference upon bring the issue to the attention of the front desk staff.

I would stay at this hotel again.

My previous experience with a hotel in Russia was less good, this was much better. True it is in the middle of nowhere meaningful. True the area around it is a little salubrious. True there are in the inevitable "ladies" hanging around the bar late at night. But the breakfast was great, the Metro is close by to noisily whisk you into central Moscow (and why would you drive, it's traffic hell), the bedroom was fine, the security was good and the Russians were fairly friendly.

Food in local restaurants was OK EXCEPT the place opposite the Metro that does Sushi etc - don't go there, we thought we might die of food poisoning but we were so hungry after travelling that undercooked cold fish and meat somehow seemed a good idea at the time. Do go into the shopping centre (new brick building, quite good for souvenirs and food). There's also a tiny and nice restaurant with a large wooden door that looks like a medieval fortress door - don't know its name but the pork was excellent!

Room Tip: Non smoking. Even if you smoke I imagine!

I Stayed at the Vega back in May 2013, and I must say I was very impressed. With Moscow being an expensive city to stay in I was finding it hard to get a competitively priced hotel that was fairly central until I came cross the Vega.

The hotel had all the amenities you could need, including restaurants, bars, function rooms etc and the lobby area is very large and spacious which made it a nice place to sit and enjoy a drink or something to eat after a day of sightseeing. The rooms are fairly standard in size and very clean. There was no bath in our room but the shower was more than good enough.

The staff were very accommodating and many of them could speak English which was refreshing as most other Russian people I met along the way could not read or speak any English. This was not a problem as everyone I met tried to help with directions etc even if it was just pointing and hand gestures. I did have a print out of Russian phrases which helped quite a bit, but I must say that my impression of the Russian people was very positive.

We managed to get to the hotel using the airport express train from Domodedovo Airport to Paveletskaya station. Here it was two stops on the brown circle line where we changed to the blue line at Kurskaya which took us to our final destination Pervomaiskaya. The total journey took around one and a half hours, one hour being taken up by the airport express train. It worked out about £6 for the express train and around 30-40p for the underground which was unbelievably cheap.

The area around the hotel seemed nice and safe, the underground only being a couple of minutes walk away to Pervomaiskaya station. There is also a supermarket a Subway and a couple of restaurants literarlly outside the hotel.

Like many people staying in Moscow as a tourist, the Red Square is normally high on the sight seeing list. Unlike other places I have visited this is not highlighted on any underground map. However from this hotel its very easy to get to. Simply walk to Pervomaiskaya station and take the blue line heading towards Kievskaya, and get off at Ploshchad for the red square. This is an easy station to spot on the map as this station gives you access to the Green and Red lines.

I only stayed in Moscow for 4 days and the hotel was perfect in terms of location and price. Access to the underground was key for me, and I would highly recommend it for first time visitors to Moscow.
