I am quite satisfied with my stay at the Korston Hotel. It is about 10 minutes from the Metro and prices are very reasonable for Moscow. I no longer smoke, but selected a smoking room so I could have a city center view, which was nice. The A/C in my original room did not function, when it turned out they couldn't fix it, they moved me to a room with A/C that worked very nicely. As a devout Baconitarian, I give the breakfast buffet high marks.

Yes, there were a few funky people (male and female) hanging around the ex-casino. I didn't bother them and they didn't bother me. The staff was not completely fluent in English but they took care of everything this guest needed. The rooms are a little worn down but not too much so and the wifi is quite fast. My inbound cab trip from DME took 1 hour and my outbound trip to DME took 45 minutes.

Bottom line: if you are looking to save yourself some rubles by staying out on the edge of the city center, the Korston Hotel is an excellent value and well worth considering. One tip: the route to the Vorobyovy Gory metro station is NOT well marked. Save yourself some walking and ask the desk clerk for some very simple directions.

I loved the hotel. It is a 15 min walk to the metro, but the walk is through a natural park! Some people here complained abut the buffet. The buffet was so diverse that I was speechless. It even included cooked salmon and beans. Freshly baked bread and homemade marmalade. Fresh fruit, the whole bit. The only negative part was that they did not have decaf.

My room was very clean with a supersized king size. Free calls to most countries from your room. Make sure you ask for a non-smoking room.

Korston Hotel, Moscow. Good hotel, but high on the cost.

Stayed at Korsten in June 2012. Location is bad as its far from the metro. Travel cost from airport was 3700 ruble. Getting to the city centre was by private taxi and costs ruble 500 to 1000 depending on time, driver and negotiation.

Other than locational cons, the pros were :
1) Big hotel.
2) Clean rooms.
3) Free wifi in the rooms and across the hotel.
4) Free telephone calls to many of the countries outside Russia too.
5) Good breakfast (and that too from 6am to 5 PM!!)
6) Has a 24 hour currency exchange kiosk that gave excellent rates as compared to the airport or other hotels.
7) Many multi cuisine restaurants.

A weird looking hotel from the outside, looks like a Las Vegas hotel from the 70s but then it did used to be a casino. The actual hotel part is very nice.. rooms large and comfortable and with lots of nice little touches like clothes brush, shoe horns etc., etc. I cannot fault the accommodation. Breakfast was good too, European type buffet but you couldn't ask for more and the restaurant itself was very chic and comfortable. However, we were on a tour with "Just You" with a prepaid meal in the evening... what happened was that they took us from the "hotel" part to some tables in what was the old casino, which is now a sports bar and we had three nights sitting under a huge sports screen having our meals whilst others watched and cheered sporting events on the tv!! We asked to change but apparently was not allowed as the other restaurants, such as where we had our breakfast was "al la carte", even though nobody was using them! Meals were thrown at you virtually and the desert was danish pastries left from the morning. Staff were sullen and rude and not attentive. The actual hotel is out of the main city centre and a bit of a trek into town with a long walk to the metro. There is nothing around or nowhere else to go so you have to stay in the hotel. Drinks prices are very very pricey for extremely small measures.

Room Tip: Ask for a Non smoking floor/room...... they still allow smoking in all public areas.

If you feel like living by a strip-club and weird-looking businessmen, then you got the place!

This hotel has a terrible reputation among Moscow residents.

The rooms are old and the view absolutely horrible. Not to mention the tasteless breakfast and the general feeling of insecurity within the premises.

What a liberation to go to SVO airport!

I strongly recommend to go for a 3* star hotel nearby, you'd feel better during your business stay.

Note: of course, if you plan on going to the strip-club (and enjoy the services provided), you should add 2* to the review), since the club is inside the hotel.

Hotel is located at former casino complex. When passing out of car/taxi you need to pass 50-70 meters of weired cafes / shops before reaching lobby. Rooms / breakfast are average.
