Radisson Royal, or "Ukraina" can hardly be called a "hotel". It is a part of Soviet/Russian architectural and historical heritage.
The building overlooks the White house. Rafael-like paintings on the walls potray Soviet paesants and workers and make a big impression.
No need to mention either great variery of breakfast or nice design of the rooms.
Overall, a great place to stay.

Dear Nino_2009,
Thank you for staying at Radisson Royal Hotel, Moscow and leaving a positive feedback.
As you have correctly mentioned, our hotel was first opened as Hotel “Ukraina” back in 1957 and its current look pays homage to the historical heritage of the building, which have been carefully restored during a long 4 years renovation period. Our famous picturesque plafond in the central hall is called “Fest of labor and harvest in the hospitable Ukraine” and considered to be one of the most spectacular art objects of the hotel’ historical legacy. Also, thank you for your kind comments regarding the breakfast at the Veranda restaurant and our room decors & ameneties.
It would be a true honor to welcome you again!

With best wishes,

Stayed here with my son before a river cruise. The location was fantastic for us. Although the walks were a bit on the longer side, we were able to walk most places from here including red square. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Highly recommend

A mediocre hotel that is trying to squeeze as much money as possible from clients

Effectively this is a solid 4 star hotel that is trying to pretend it is a 5+ property

Avoid unless offered at discount rate (and stay in Ritz for luxury or Hilton for affordable comfort)

Cons:

- mediocre décor; cheap bathroom fittings

- rooms are not soundproof (at least xx40). I was able to clearly understand what my neighbors were discussing and was woken up by their baby playing

- impossible to open windows; air quality in the room is bad (very dry)

- poor and very expensive taxi service (airport transfer 7,500 v going rate of 2,000); cars are smelly and drivers are not qualified (the car started moving while I was still trying to get in) and ask for directions

- no one helped with the bags on arrival (and lobby is rather far from entrance)

- currency exchange did not work

- I was not allowed to charge breakfast to my room and had to get cash in order to pay for breakfast, which was inconvenient as I was in a rush

- was charged 2,200 for in-room breakfast, while stated price was 1,100 (the difference was due to various service delivery charges as well as excess charges)

- too much smoke in the lobby

- concierge advise on restaurants was weak

Cons:

- good (but not excellent) location

- historical building

Dear Jevgenijs Z,
Thank you for choosing the Radisson Royal Hotel for your trip to Moscow and for sharing with us your experience. Every comment is valuable for us as we are striving constantly to improve our services and stay the preferred hotel for every travel occasion in Moscow. Also, thank you for your positive comment on our location and historical building.
Please allow me to give my input on all the points in your review:
It is very unfortunate that you were not greeted by any of our bellboys at your arrival and were not offered help with your luggage. Early in the mornings before morning rush hour we have less on duty. It can happen that during your arrival they were busy with other guests. This is not acceptable for your experience and we are looking into the matter to improve the scheduled bellboys on duty. It was also unfortunate to read, that the currency exchange was not available. We have 2 currency exchange offices on site, one of them is working 24/7. It might occasionally happen, that staff is not available for a short period of time. Please note, they are managed by third party companies and we are not empowered to have full control and supervision on their operations.

We were surprised, that you considered our bathroom amenities not luxury and ranked our interiors decors as mediocre. All our rooms are featuring Penhaligons bathroom amenities, Etro accessories as well as Frette bathrobes, towels & linens. The interiors décors are paying homage to the historical heritage of the building and have been carefully restored during a long 4 years renovation period. We have payed a lot of attention to both.

The rate for our standard continental breakfast served to a room is 1080 RUB ( 5% service charge and 150 RUB delivery charge apply). That does not make the total bill more than 1300 RUB, if you are not requesting for any additional dishes, which are for additional charge. The most popular option among guests is our super buffet breakfast, served at th Veranda restaurant. In this case the cost is 1800 RUB, service charge and taxes included. Our breakfast is considered to be the best in Moscow and features caviar, pancakes cooked on a live cooking station as well as a great variety of other dishes from European and Russian cuisines.

Regarding the taxi service, you are always welcome to choose from economy, business class or luxury taxi service at our concierge desk, which is preferred to be booked in advance and costs range from 3500 Rub per one way up to 7500 RUB for Mercedes E Class. All our taxi drivers are obliged to follow the corporate grooming standards, drive safe and professionally. In case of unforeseen circumstances or urgent matter sometimes we have to request for a third party companies and unfortunately not always able to oversee their operations, but for sure will pass your comments to their management.

We are sincerely sorry, that the lack of ability of opening the windows has made you feel uncomfortable. This is a necessity due to our location just opposite to such important government buildings like House of Government of Russian Federation, Embassy of USA and Embassy of United Kingdom. It was also frustrating for us to read, that you have find our concierge advice on the restaurants weak. Please note that we have the biggest choice of onsite restaurants in a hotel in Moscow.
We understand that you find our pricing expensive comparable to many other destinations, however our pricing is strictly following the levels of other 5 star properties in Moscow. We constantly monitor our pricing to the market to ensure we are on par with similar hotels in the city.

Please accept my personal and sincere apologies for the mishaps you experienced. No doubt that it has been thoroughly followed-up internally. Hope to see you back soon and next time I would like to greet you personally.

Do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Sincerely yours
Jesper Henriksen

A fantastic hotel that has everything you could ask for.
I can recommend the hotel to anyone who visits Moscow
the breakfast was great with caviar and champagne, the staff was very service minded.
The hotel is quite close to Red Square and attractions around the city.

Ispent four nights at the Radisson hotel in Moscow. The lobby, bar, stores, reception desk and concierge were very pretty with nice corteous service. No evryone speaks english but tries. The restaurants were very expensive and the closest metro station was at least 20 mins walking. There was so much obvious security personeel at the premisses that it madeguests feel insecure.
