“Great hotel, even better after the renovation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2010

I choose the Sheraton Palace for a leisure trip. The hotel is very clean and is currently undergoing constructions in the upper floors. I stayed in an "old" room and the noise in the morning started at 9am. I wanted to see the result of the construction and visited the upper floor to convince myself of the realy nice rooms that will be finished hopefully soon!
Wireless Internet and the Link@Sheraton are provided complimentary.
Other than that service was not very attentive, but I didn't speak Russian though. The bar service was friendly, the Club Sandwich ridiculously expensive, USD35 for less than an appetizer. The breakfast was very rich and international!
The concierge arranged a Limousine Service towards the city center and the costs were about USD40, but better than waiting at the street for a cab driver who doesn't speek English!
So, bring a Russian speeking friend and you are better off!

Stayed for 2 nights (Friday - Sunday) at Sheraton Moscow after having not been here for 8 years. The place was in much need of updating. I stayed on the Executive Floor and the remodeled rooms were perfect. Other than the noise from the ongoing hotel construction (they are remodeling all floors) the hotel location is convenient, and the staff very friendly/helpful. Continental breakfast on Executive Floor is acceptable, and new fitness center on the 8th floor is very good too.

A "value" hotel and someplace I will stay again.

I was stuck in a room in a wing on the second floor, close to the service exit. I figured out during my second night that I must have been next to a workroom. All during the night trolleys with what appear to have been plastic wheels were driven around a tiled floor. Especially around 1am a lot of these trolleys needed moving. At 2am, an employee decided to turn on loud disco music. At 3.30am, someone decided some work was needed on some kind of metal device and started banging on it. Every time I had to call the reception to get it resolved but after being woken up four times, I hardly got any sleep that night. Other than that the hotel is reasonable. The reception area was good, just as the asian food in the bar-restaurant. No complaints about the room. The steak I got from room service certainly wasn't worth 2200 rubles and the Internet connection was rather slow.

This is a 1990s hotel that has been updated in the reception area, but the room was not of the same standard. Not much difference between this and a holiday inn for comfort. My window broke when I tried to open it for fresh air. A guy arrived within minutes to fix it, which was impressive, but it shouldn't have been so faulty in the first place. I got the sense that most of the focus of the staff was on the reception / bar area. I didn't eat breakfast as it wasn't included in the price (which was very disappointing- it was not cheap). I spent 3 nights here, and after long days of meetings, I took the easy option and ate at the bar. Food options are limited and EXPENSIVE!! Moscow is not cheap generally, but for a club sandwich and fries and Coke I didn't see any change from £30.

The desk staff were efficient but not friendly or welcoming. When I travel I'm always hopeful that I'll find a hotel that I'll go back to (makes life easier when you don't have to think about where to stay). The Sheraton didn't achieve that and I'll shop around for a better deal and perhaps somewhere with more character. There wasn't a lot to commend this place- efficient, clean, but no soul or warmth.

Stayed 2 bight in suite. The staff was especially friendly. Rooms are well decorated and equiped, at sheraton standards. The location is ok but a little too far away by foot from the red square.

I stayed at the Sheraton Palace Hotel for 2 1/2 weeks on a business trip and I really liked it. The regular room was big, nice and clean. I didn't try the restaurant, but the room service was good. The laundry service was also good and fast (but really expensive) I had free wireless Internet in my room during my stay.
What I liked about this hotel is that it's in a really good location: about 5 minutes walk from two metro stations, at the corner of Tverskaya (main street), about 45 minutes walk to the Kremlin... There is a grocery store and a Starbuck just in front of the hotel and a restaurant / pub next to the hotel where the staff was very nice to me even tough I didn't speak russian and they had some English menu.

All the employees of the hotel spoke good english and were really helpfull.

I used to stay in this hotel several times. Everything - rooms, service, food, staff are on the stable level of 4*. Free wi-fi in lobby area. Friendly personnel. Also this hotel is quite, simple and not popular, if you want, around all those mafia-politics-businessmen russians hanging around the lobbies of other more luxury hotels. If you see what I mean.
Loccation is not perfect for leisure trips because you'll need 20-30 mins by walk to get to Red Square. But ideal for business trips because it's loccated right on the way from Sheremet'evo to the center.
Summary: if you go to Moscow with a business purpose and your budget is under 300$/night - go to Sheraton.
Unless you need to relax in a good spa area and swimming pool after a hard day. Then go to Swissotel.
