“Nice hotel, good location”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Stayed there for a week, walking distance to Red Square and near nice places to eat. Big bedroom, clean and comfortable with a nice shower (a must have after a long flight and the traffic jam in Moscow) and amenities. The restaurant is good for breakfast but quite expensive for dinner. Recommended for business travels, as you might arrive late and just want a quick snack and service.

It happens that I stayed in 3 different hotels during my recent visit to Moscow. Savoy was my last stop and it disappointed especially in comparison with the other two (Radisson Ukraina and Hyatt Ararat). The location is great right in the heart of the city. Unfortunately service and decor brought me back 20 years to the Soviet era. While the rooms are good size (I stayed in Junior Suite for approx $600/night) the furniture and fixings are quite outdated. The bathroom is large and well appointed. What really disappointed was their fittness center. The hotel's website advertises sauna but fails to mention that it is only open in the morning and after 7pm. This is quite odd and not something that I've ever encountered before. My discussion with the management on the subject was fruitless. Finally, breakfast was a good spread however hot entrees were luke warm as were the items which were supposed to be chilled such as Russian yogurt. Don't think I'll be coming back here.

The Savoy is an elegant hotel, situated within easy walking distance of Red Square, the GUM department store and a number of metro stations. Our room - standard - was large with a sizeable en suite. Decor is recent though classical: and gilt is a favourite in the Russian style.

The Savoy has good staff, providing consistent service. It's also good value and very conveniently placed. it made our holiday!

Like staying in an historic home. From the moment you enter the lobby you are aware of the size and grandeur of the building. The rooms are large with chandeliers and marble bathrooms. Meals served in very ornate dinning room with a fountain and fish pond in the centre. Breakfast was well worth the price - very plentiful with large selection. Staff were excellent, with very good English.
Location was great. Easy walking distance to main sites. Plenty of dinning options within five minutes walking.

Moscow is not a pedestrian friendly city, so it matters where you stay. Savoy is very close to two metro stations and 5-min walking distance to all of the touristic attractions. The staff is very friendly, and the high-ceiling rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast is also nice. Price is a little on the higher end, but this is Moscow..

The Savoy clearly shows that it is in a historical building. Nevertheless, the rooms are spacious, ceilings are high and the location is right at the center. While there are other 5 star hotels located a bit more closer to the Kremlin, the 5 min extra walk is worth the experience.

The staff here was gracious and friendly. The location was close to Red Square and the metro. Rooms were clean and beautiful. The concierge was helpful.
I have to say that the Russian people in general were extremely nice. We loved Moscow. It is a city with well-dressed cosmopolitan people, beautiful architecture and a historic pride of place. It is in the line with Paris and the great cities of Europe. We very much enjoyed St. Petersburg as well. We will definitely return.
