Stayed here for a few days. Although the exterior of the building might not seem much of a landmark, it actually really is worth staying. The room was luxurious and spacious. The whole building breathes an old Russian soviet style. I had many rooms, including a very old fashioned, yet complete and clean, eastern Europe style bathroom. The entrance hall and restaurant are decorated beautifully, and the atmosphere reminded me (positively!) of an old movie.
Another positive point is the distance from mayor attractions such as the red square.

Good location, 20-30 minutes walking from Red Square, 10 minutes walking from Metro station Polianka. Nice view to the river. Very high security.

The room is quite small, clean and remind you of a USSR time with CRT TV and stuff. No shaving kit, no toothpaste. Internet connection is horrible, sometimes I can't even post status or photos on my facebook timeline.

Nice restaurant, nice bar. Breakfast is quite good, I found it even better than breakfast in Metropole Hotel. Room service is good, reception is so-so. There is a business center at the lobby where you cant print documents with 0,3usd per page rate.

The 2 things annoying me the most is the security and internet connection. I need fast internet to check mail all the times but sometimes i have to wait like 10 minutes to connect to the mail box. The security is tight. They wont let the car in if you didnt call the reception beforehand. So if your friend wants to pick you up or visit you, you better call the reception the day you arrive and register your friend car's number and name for the whole period.

I've been in this hotel several times. Every time all is ok.

All services work excellent and hotel does not have usual for moscow problems: hot water is hot, internet is fast, no noise in room, breakfast is very nice, several times there was red caviar.

And it's 20 minutes walking from red square.

Room Tip: rooms on center have better internet connection rooms on river side can be affected by noise of ope...

I understand this is a (government) hotel where visiting delegations are entertained, hence the high security that others have referred to.
I was on this occasion here for just one night; although booked into a standard room, I was given a huge suite with ante room, sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. Thank you! Yes, the fittings are kind of idiosyncratic and dated (avocado bathroom suite, big square box CRT TVs) but clean, well appointed and frankly give the impression of having been little used over a long time.
Great view out over the Moskva River and the extraordinary monument to Peter the Great.
Aurora Bar staff were friendly as were Reception (perhaps its the old issue of making the effort to say a couple of words in the home language, even if you do sound like a complete idiot?).
If you get the chance, visit the conference hall; it's decorated with pictures of the great and good (as well as the notorious) who have stood at the lectern to share their thoughts with the masses,
If you want a standard chain hotel experience, best you don't come here. If you want something with a bit of character that you definitely will remember, give it a go.

Room Tip: Facing the River rather than the Road...

The hotel is old, but it actually has nice restaurants (the foods were so delicious and I loved the waiters because they were all nice to me!). Contrary to the Park Inn Sadu, most of the staffs cannot speak English so, use your gesture to explain more. It has nice location and the river behind was so sool!

The hotel is in a very nice position, close to the Kremlin and to Gorky Park.
The restaurant is open all the day long and it is very good quality. The swimming pool was closed for 4 days for bank holidays, it is very small but with all comforts. Very high security service with access control 24/7.
The rooms are very old and not really big. The five stars are a bit too much compared to the standard. During spring you can hear the birds singing all the night long, very nice!

its a hotel for one night stayers. the location is good but its noisy since it's close to a 6 lane busy road. the rooms are clean but quite simple, the TVs belong to Lenin's era. the bar is empty as hell due to the tight security measures at the main gate, they do not allow people to get in easily and it feels like you entering a prison. the breakfast buffet is huge and worth trying. the service is quite good but the personnel does not know English and they are not warm and welcoming. overall the hotel is good if you're not staying there for more than 3 days
