We choose this place because of its location and rich history. And both were the right reasons to choose this place. We had a room with Kremlin view (a must for this hotel). The room was spacious, the beds comfortable and the bathroom small, but a very good standard (clean, etc.). We arrived late night or early morning (3am) and everything from check-in to the presentation of the room was of outstanding standard (or to put it the other way, just as you would expect it from a hotel this category).
We used the pool, sauna and fitness facilities, which are a great add on for a city hotel after sightseeing the Kremlin etc. The standard is good, nothing fancy - it does what it should do: provide you with the opportunity to swim, sweat and work out.

We opted for a room only rate (breakfast was extra at about 1800 Russian Ruble per person). It was a wise decision not to include the breakfast, as besides the view of the Krelmin from the breakfast room (which we had a better one from our hotel room), was nothing special. The service was good, although not everybody was able to understand our requests in english (i.e. decaf cappuccino - was something special obviously). The choice of food was as with any other international hotel chain. Don't get me wrong, the breakfast was excellent - there was just no "extra touch" to it. To let you know, there are plenty of breakfast opportunities around - maybe not that stylish, but there are options (i.e. Starbucks).

Finally the concierge (and we chatted with a few) were outgoing in their effort to make our stay remarkable. Basically just ask and they try to arrange it or direct you.

Room Tip: Take a room with Krelmin view - it's worth it.

I booked this hotel for the location and that its supposed to be a luxury hotel. All i can say is the location is what makes this place as without it, it would just be a run of the mill standard hotel.

The rooms are OK, they're just kinda normal 4 star rooms nothing special or luxurious about them at all. The lobby area is OK, again nothing special and the reception area is very old fashioned.

Service was quite good, we are a young couple so i think the better service tends to be with the older people who the staff think have more money...very old fashioned thinking!

Did not try the restaurant as russian food has a terrible reputation and thats what it specialises in! We found a Pizza Express which was good and there is a few bistro restaurants too in moscow which are fair value and even a iLLY Espresso bar too.

Overall i prob would stay in a more luxurious hotel next time, if i ever visit the grim moscow again.

Perfect location, beautiful rooms, spa, pool, bar, restaurant. A truly 5 star hotel. Just to be picky I would redecorate de lobby which is ok but not luxury. Our room was number 211 but the floor was the fourth (breakfast is on the second floor and lobby on the first). We stayed there for 3 nights.
The rooms are big and beds are very comfortable. But what really makes you feel great is the view of the Red Square. Even if your room does not have the view, at breakfast you can it enjoy as well. The location is really perfect. Do not hesitate, reserve there and if you cannot just make a visit to have a drink.Try the restaurant at the street level. It is really russian food which sometimes is hard to find in a so cosmopolitan city like Moscow. Also call by the Pushkin Restaurant, 10 minutes walk from the hotel. And as for the currency change, do not bother to go to a bank: the hotel has a desk which will change your dollars at a better currency rate.

Room Tip: Our room was very nice but if you have any problem there is a person in charge of the relations with...

The National Hotel combines the grandeur of a period property with the high standard of service found at the best Starwood locations.

This is my first visit to Moscow, it was primarily a business trip but the proximity to the Kremlin and the Church of the Accenture gave me a reason to get out and snap a few pictures. Location is amazing, luxurious fittings & furnishings and an onsite top notch restaurant all combine to make this a great stay!

If you're looking for a great hotel in central Moscow, look no further. It really is that nice!

Highly recommended +++++

We got to Moscow to Leningradsky train station and took the metro until Okhotny Ryad. We walked a few metres and National hotel was just there - very handy being so close to the metro station which makes it easy to move around.

The hotel's view is stunning... in front of the Kremlin and you can see St Basil's cathedral as well. couldn't be better located! 5 stars !

The staff was super friendly and accomodating, the premises are beautifully decorated, which a lot of taste - russian people have excellent decorating taste and this reflected once again in this hotel.

the hotel is expensive, you might as well say - a simple Kitkat costs 5 euros (200 rubles), a light coke (small) 6 euros... the breakfast super expensive too. But in Moscow things are expensive so it was OK.

The room was BeautifuL !! we were upgraded into a Studio for the same price - nice! We absolutely loved the room, only thing missing that I would recommend the hotel to provide would be a water heater and a couple of sachets of coffee, sugar, milk so that guests can make a cup of tea or coffee (it can be cold outside).

We loved our stay and would definitely go back!

One could not ask for a better location in Moscow, right across from the Kremlin and Red Square and adjacent to a Metro stop. We were given a room overlooking the Kremlin and St. Basil's; the view out our windows was magical at night. The staff is very pleasant and business like, but highly responsive. The breakfast room also overlooks the Kremlin with a good selection. I've only been to Moscow once, but if I returned, I'd try to stay here.
