“Good Business Hotel”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

Have stayed here before but this is my first review of the place. Hotel is not so new any more and is showing signs of wear. Nevertheless, its well located for a large amount of businesses (not for tourists), has good [small] conference facilities, strong free wifi and efficient staff. Restaurant is ok with a good choice at breakfast. Rooms are a little utilitarian and spartan, towels a little thin. Mini bar (soft drinks|) is free. Room also has a safe. Prices very reasonable for Moscow. All in all a good, few frills business hotel

We have just spent 3 nights at the Katerina City Hotel and found it a great experience. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and give you advice on all things Moscow. The hotel is spotlessly clean, does a excellent breakfast with plenty for all tastes and the mini bar in the room is a nice touch. After a long day visiting Red Square, The Kremlin and all the other sites its we found it just nice to rest our feet for a while and order some food via room service. There is a good choice on the menu and the local Russian dishes are a must. The location could not be better with Red Square about 30 minutes walk or 2 stops on the Metro which is about 5 minutes walk. Also a train can be caught direct to Domodedovo Airport from the same station for just over £6. We would certainly have no problem recommending this hotel to friends and family and next time we visit Moscow we will definitely be staying there.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have a nice view over the river and canal

We stayed for 3 nights in October 2013, the hotel is very close to the metro as well as the overland airport express train. I would advise printing a map before you get there as the instructions on the website for walking from the metro were not great (however that may have been us!)
Hotel has a great breakfast buffet, and the FREE minibar is restocked daily. We found the room very hot and could not get the a/c to work but never mentioned this to the hotel as we were hardly in the room.

Hotel was very comfortable, staff was very friendly, it was near to subway station, so it is easy to get to airport Domodedovo by express. It was booked by booking.com. It was too good to see free mini bar.

I had a very comfortable stay for 4 nights in Room 626, which had all the amenities other reviewers have mentioned: free WiFi, coffee & tea service, minibar with free drinks & snacks, AC, flat-screen TV, free in-room safe. Although the room itself was not large, it was surprisingly well laid out, with a double bed (very nice duvet), desk & chair, good lighting, built-in shelving with another chair and a shelf for luggage. Bathroom was plain but adequate.

Great location near restaurants & the metro, with a delicious breakfast buffet. Staff at reception were efficient and helpful, and spoke very good English. If you have free time and feel like a walk, the very beautiful Novospassky Monastery is just across the river from the hotel.

Would I stay here again? Defintely!

Rooms comfortable and clean. Free mini-bar with soft drinks and snacks. Tea/ coffee facilities in room. TV, Safe and free toiletries. Other freebees available at reception where they speak excellent English..
Very good choice of food at the breakfast buffet. Bar open 24hours with an excellent selection of food available. The Katrina hotel caters mainly for business people but we felt as tourist we were made very welcome.
Moscow in general. Don't try to buy metro tickets in the morning - very busy. Kremlin and museums shut on Thursdays. Go to museums early (10am) as they get very busy with school children later in the day. Eating out in Moscow is expensive. The metro is fantastic and worth using but you need to learn your Russian names. We felt very safe in Moscow compared with other large cities.

Selected hotel because of high ratings on Tripadvisor and had two excellent multi-day stays in September. As others have commented - very clean, comfortable rooms, super quiet, restaurant is excellent. Stayed in a mid-sized room and a suite - both were equipped with a laptop sized safe and hot water/tea kettle and cups. Staff exceptionally friendly and speaks English. Even though the hotel was fully booked, it never seemed crowded. Definitively would select again.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a mid-sized room; look for bargains on suites.
