We had a business meeting in this hotel and stayed 3 nights. So we made use of the meeting facilities.
We were satisfied. The rooms are not very luxurious but all you need is there , with the exception of a safe box. The walls are sound proof , you can have a very good sleep here.
The breakfast is nice, there are plenty of things to choose from. Also the lunch was very nice and convenient . The mini bar in the room is free of charge.
The staff at the reception desk was very good english speaking and very helpful. The service at the bar could be a bit better. But also english speaking .
the hotel has a very fast wifi connection and easy access. And it is very close to the Pveletskaya station from where you can take the direct train to Domedevo airport. So not upper class, but very convenient. And very friendly and helpful staff .

Room Tip: Apparently there are also very very small rooms in the hotel, so I would advise to take a double roo...

Dear Christiane, I am glad to hear you were satisfied with your stay. Glad you liked our sound proof walls, breakfast, lunch and found staff helpful. Safeboxes in room are on their way, now available in all Large rooms and at reception. We will definitely put more attention to service in the bar, it is so important. Than you for taking time to leave a review, hope to see you at our hotel again soon!

Do not expect your understanding of a European 4 star hotel. The staff at the Katerina City hotel are very friendly and eager to please - nonetheless the rooms are small and there is no room safe. There is a mini bar that is replenished free every day with water, coke, orange juice, peanuts, crisps and biscuits - which is nice. However I would have preferred a bigger bath towel, a bath, more than one thin pillow and the soap dispenser being replenished - ours remained empty.
The bed is extremely comfortable but the wardrobe in our room was wide enough to take 6 hangers between the two of us and there was nowhere else to put clothes. The shower is a small tiled cubicle with a plastic curtain.
It is not all bad - water is hot and the wifi is free and fast. The breakfast may not be sophisticated but there is choice and everything is fresh.
The restaurant is more canteen than restaurant and we paid £56 for two small beef stroganoff with mash, two glasses of wine, two desserts and two coffees. Not extravagant but you can get better value and ambiance in the small restaurants up the road.
The location is not exciting but if you come out of the hotel and turn left and follow the canal the area will improve and in 45 minutes you will be in Red Square.
To resume - if you expect little you will be pleasantly surprised - you will sleep well and get a good breakfast - but if you expect 4 star you will be disappointed.
We could not, however, fault the staff who put in a five star effort!

Dear guest, Thank you so much for taking time to leave a review. I am glad you found our staff friendly and helpful. Today there are safes in the Large rooms and at the reception, but in two months all rooms will be equipped with laptop sized safes. We are always ready to give you more towels and more pillows (besides the extra pillow you have in your room), just ask! The Dove soap should of course always be full, we will keep that under close inspection. If you wouldn’t mind, please let me know what sophisticated items you would like to see for breakfast: katerina @ katerinahotels.com

When I checked in, they produced a wicker basket from behind the counter of toiletries and other things I might want for the room -- no shampoo or conditioner, or even bar soap, available in your room. Odd. The rooms redefine plain. My "double bed" consisted of two single beds pushed together, each one sloping downward in the middle. The free mini-bar was a bunch of warm bottles of still and sparkling water along with some snacks (like the rest of the food in Russia, none of the snacks seemed at all appealing). The hotel is in an odd location, near some construction and a bunch of car dealers. There is a minor river in front of the hotel but it has no charm and the whole place seems pretty deserted.

The bathroom is tiny and the shower stall has a curtain and a free-standing nozzle shower head thing that, in my case, sprayed water directly against the wall instead of me. I did not enjoy the Dove soap dispenser which made things seem more like a gym than a hotel. No luxury here!

The strangest thing about the breakfast room (breakfast is complimentary) is the piped-in artificial bird sounds. The food is plentiful but unappetizing, and it tastes no better than it looks. The only thing that was tasty was the plain yogurt in a sealed Dannon container.

The "gym" was a tiny room with one treadmill and one stationary bike and some weights. Go with your expectations set properly. And it's open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

I would not stay here again as, for the price, I suspect you could find a hotel with a lot more amenities and comfort.

Dear guest, thank you for your review. In all rooms we have Dove soap and Lux shampoo, if you need anything else we are happy to give it to you for free – from “the wicker basket”. Upon or after check-in. Reg our design: some like our Scandinavian interior, some find it too colorful, some too plain. The photos here on Tripadvisor should give you an idea of what our style is. The free mini-bar is filled with Coca-Cola and American chips Lays (among other things), I hope you at least enjoyed those items! Moscow is a dynamic city where there is construction going on, the one close to us (construction already finished) is a nice example of modern Russian Architecture, your first sight-seeing! The charm of the canal and the Moscow river can be discussed, some find the riverside view peaceful. I agree that if you are after luxury you should go for the Ritz or Hyatt, we are more Scandinavian practicality. The bird song in the morning is our idea of a calm awakening, but maybe we should have regular music. The gym is basic but can be open any time you like – just ask!

Excellent hotel for your stay in Moscow. The room was small but nice, friendly staff and very good breakfast. Probably not located "centrally" but Moscow is so big that probably nothing is central unless you want a specific place in Moscow. Still, close enough to the metro

This hotel was arranged by our tour company, Travel Russia. The location was good, right off one of the ring roads. We were there two nights, the beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, and the mini bar was free. My husband thought the buffet breakfast was one of the best, with much variety. The heating in public areas tends to be rather warm, but we controlled by cutting all heat off in our room. The staff tries very hard to please.

This was my second stay in this hotel, prior to arriving sent an email requesting the same room I had in April 2012 and also a room for my colleague in the same floor.my request was granted and my colleague was in the room next to mine.
as always staff very helpful, requested to have only flat water in the mini-bar, no problem there.
This time tried the jacuzzi and steam room, very nice, even ordered a drink to be brought to the sauna area.
One evening i forgot my flu medication in the restaurant, next morning without having the time to ask, the waitress spotted me and brought it to me, hat off to her.
anyway, i will stay again in this hotel every time i visit Moscow, which is about once a year.
Thank you Katerina City, all the best to your staff.

Good hotel near Paveletskaya (10 min walk). Perfect if you are interested in a fast way to the Domodedovo airport. If you are interested in a walk through the historic center, it is better to choose another hotel for the same money! Very nice staff at the reception desk, large and spacious rooms with views of the waterfront. A good and varied breakfast. Disadvantages: old furniture, the hotel must be little updated, and the high price of the room (unfortunately, the standard for Moscow).
