“Great hotel, excellent view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Recently stayed here and had a nice time. Hotel is a bit far from the airport. The rooms are wonderful, clean and offer amazing views of the city. The food including breakfast is very nice, but can be a bit pricey. There are several other good breakfast options around the neighborhood. For western food, there is a Hard rock Cafe, Johnny Rockets, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks and even a McDonald's within walking distance. The hotel lobby is very nice and concierge is helpful in arranging tour guides and buying tickets for various shows. The elevators are small and claustrophobics be warned! Staff speak good English and are very helpful with the formalities of registration of guests and other details. Overall, nice hotel.

Room Tip: Buying tickets through the hotel can be more expensive than buying directly. However, the concierge...

I stayed at the Golden Ring for Business for 7 nights. The room was small and dated but clean. The turn down service and chocolates each night are a nice touch. WIFI was free which you don't find in many hotels these days (Hilton take note) and was appreciated. There was no iron or ironing board in the room and when I asked for one a staff member arrived to take my clothes away - I relented and had them do it for me rather than try to communicate my wishes - for 4 shirts it was approx. $25.00 cdn and they did a far better job than I would have anyway. The bathroom was small with only a shower stall which was a disappointment but the water was hot and the pressure was good. We had drinks and appy's in the lounge a few nights which was fine however the excessive cigarette smoke drove me away (we live in a city with no indoor smoking which I now appreciate immensely). I ate the buffet breakfast and the price of $41.00 cdn seemed high for what I saw they offered and the coffee was cold. There are great coffee shops close by within walking distance that have breakfast and desserts with great coffee at a more reasonable price. Overall it was fine for a business trip but overpriced for what the room offers (single bed and no bathtub!). We paid between $160.00 - $335.00 cdn depending on the night (the rate changed daily) which I wouldn't pay for a personal trip.

The hotel and amenities are a little warn but still provide good value. Rooms where small older type facilities but clean. My room had a good view. The restaurant and bar are expensive for what they offer. Centrally located you can walk to the river or 30 minute easy walk to Red square. Lots of small restaurants and shops on the way. English is spoken in the hotel .
Make sure you have the hotel or friend book a Taxi for when you arrive at the Airport. The first Taxi I approached wanted $200 for the trip into town, finally I paid $50 to another driver. This driver had no idea where he was going, a 30 minute trip without traffic took almost 2 hours. Traffic Jams are a big reality here. Very little English is spoken. The best part of this Hotel is its location.
Good for sight seeing and Business.

Room Tip: Communist service to be expected.

Truly excellent hotel for the price which exceeded any of our expectations. Staff truly friendly and helpful, great rooms (even if we stayed in a standard room we had a great view!), great food, breath taking view from their rooftop restaurant. In simple words: If I would be to return to Moscow for business or vacations, I will definitely stay again with them. My boyfriend and I stayed in the hotel for 5 nights and we both were extremely satisfied in every aspect with the hotel service and facilities. The staff noticed that I was staying at the hotel during my birthday and by their own initiative, they brought to our room a bouquet of flowers, bottle of wine and chocolates, all complimentary!

Room Tip: We had a room on the 9th floor with direct view to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs "soviet styl...

Centrally located the hotel has 5 stars, But services offered do not prove it. Wanted to ask for concierge advice for a restaurant reservation .Time was 8.30 pm. We were told that the concierge leaves at 8 . Is such a thing possible in 5 star hotel. Then we had to look for advice in Trip Advisor.
Besides that its a good hotel.Staff very friendly.
Lobby and Restaurant are spacious and nice. Breakfast room is big and food quality is good .
Room furniture is old.

This hotel would probably be a 3.5-4 star for its rooms, but higher for its foyer & facilities.
The carpet was old & smelt smokey - the bed was very old & you could feel the springs through the foam. The bathroom was average & the shower was tiny with an odd layout (shower inthe middle of the bath???)
The foyer & dining is absolutely superb!!! HUGE banquet with huge amounts of food & a varied selection.
The location is right next to the main pedestrian street & the metro which is great.

Its a great hotel - but dont expect 5 star "western" facilities & comforts.

Stayed for a week for a business trip. The room was shockingly small, the bed was a single-sleeper type and stuck in a corner, like something out of an old Soviet hostel. Bathroom is tiny as well, and only had shower and no bath, which is unusual for a hotel that bills itself as 5 stars.

Pros:
the rest of the experience was pretty pleasant - Checkin was a breeze even at 0400 at night, i got a high floor room i requested (very much recommended) . WiFi throughout the hotel and in the room was perfect - fast and unlimited and without interruptions. Staff reasonably english speaking. Breakfast is AMAZING. View from 19th floor windows, amazing. Hotel very centrally located, 2 min walk to Arbat st. and the metro, right on the Garden ring beltway.
They have a Fitness club with very good equpiment and sauna

Cons: rooms tiny. in-house restaurant is expensive and has no discount for hotel guests,so if you're stuck in for the night, expect to pay thru the nose. The fitness club closes at 2130, which is annoying. There is a traffic police truck camped outside the hotel ,they stop all passenger cars during the night so if you're arriving by car, expect to be held up while the driver negotiates bribe

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room , the views are amazing, esp. if facing the river
