This hotel would probably be a 3.5-4 star for its rooms, but higher for its foyer & facilities.
The carpet was old & smelt smokey - the bed was very old & you could feel the springs through the foam. The bathroom was average & the shower was tiny with an odd layout (shower inthe middle of the bath???)
The foyer & dining is absolutely superb!!! HUGE banquet with huge amounts of food & a varied selection.
The location is right next to the main pedestrian street & the metro which is great.

Its a great hotel - but dont expect 5 star "western" facilities & comforts.

Stayed for a week for a business trip. The room was shockingly small, the bed was a single-sleeper type and stuck in a corner, like something out of an old Soviet hostel. Bathroom is tiny as well, and only had shower and no bath, which is unusual for a hotel that bills itself as 5 stars.

Pros:
the rest of the experience was pretty pleasant - Checkin was a breeze even at 0400 at night, i got a high floor room i requested (very much recommended) . WiFi throughout the hotel and in the room was perfect - fast and unlimited and without interruptions. Staff reasonably english speaking. Breakfast is AMAZING. View from 19th floor windows, amazing. Hotel very centrally located, 2 min walk to Arbat st. and the metro, right on the Garden ring beltway.
They have a Fitness club with very good equpiment and sauna

Cons: rooms tiny. in-house restaurant is expensive and has no discount for hotel guests,so if you're stuck in for the night, expect to pay thru the nose. The fitness club closes at 2130, which is annoying. There is a traffic police truck camped outside the hotel ,they stop all passenger cars during the night so if you're arriving by car, expect to be held up while the driver negotiates bribe

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room , the views are amazing, esp. if facing the river

I have stayed in this hotel 3 nights, location in moscow center is good and the Metro is 5min walk. Decoration is heavy collored russian style. The staff are friendly helpfull and knows english. Check in and checkout however the room was tiny little thing, the shower was so small that you could actually use everything without moving around...the aircondition had known some better, cooler days.
Prices however, were not tiny at all, the smallest room -238EU/night!! , food & Drinks prices etc were above average. so if you are booking this hotel take a bigger room (price differences are not big) and be preapered to pay dearly.

Room Tip: Ask for one class above the lowest and high floor (e.g. 15)

Went at 28th June. The room is comfortable for 2 people and is equiped with all you need. The air-conditioning wasn't strong enough and the room was a bit hot. The location was very good close to the metro and across the street from old Arbat pedestrian.

Staff is rude and condescending. Terrible, slow and less that normal service. I guess in Moscow it is ok to snap and clients and talk back to them? Never again. I am embarrassed for my country.
Room is clean and large with complementary water. However, haven't been able to take a shower since the water will not go down and no one seems to know how to fix it.
Bottom line: rude, stuck up, unqualified staff. There would be a giant line at the front desk with just one person checking everyone in and answering the phone at the same time. They don't care that you're a person who is paying to have decent experience.
Never never again. Stayed at Mercure prior and had a completely different experience.
