Excellent location, double windows meant it was very quiet. Spotlessly clean with great service from the front desk and doormen. Quite a good breakfest buffet. The carpets in the room are very old though, and the bathrooms are clean but also show their age. Located in an excellent district and for moscow center prices, not bad. Would stay there again

Close to Red Square, big thumbs up. Breakfast paltry. Room was big and ropy. Like a 4 star from 20 years ago. Internet you have to pay for. Worst of all, a night club in the street went on all night two nights running till 6am. I moved. Don't stay here unless you have to.

Room Tip: At the back if you want to sleep, at the front if you like thumping dance music.

Basic in every way-small rooms, limited facilities (no kettle!!!), no hand washer, no plug, old TV-but clean and the perfect location. Breakfast was good (cereals, yoghurt, fruit, sausage, cheese, rolls, etc-note no ice or cooling for dairy products sitting for several hours/days) & staff polite. Walking distance to most places, including Metro (subway) for others. Not far from the Bolshoi, Red Square, Moscow's ultra-expensive hotels and a small "supermarket" (corner type shop), which is also near a bottle shop and western style hamburger cafe. Can't alter heating, so opened part of window to cool off.

This Hotel is in a great location. It was a 20 minutes walk up the street to the Bolshoi Theatre and Red Square. We stayed at the Hotel on 19 September. Our large twin room was a considerable walk down several long corridors. The room was clean and comfortable, but the air-con didn't work. The staff were helpful as our door keycard got stuck in the slot and they spent 15 minutes trying to extract it. Breakfast was a basic buffet with unhelpful, surly staff in attendance. However Reception staff were quite the opposite and recommended the Marriott Hotel close by to change money to roubles and a great supermarket closeby. There are also several restaurants nearby.

Stayed at Hotel Budapest in September 2013. The hotel was a short walk from the train station and Red Square. The breakfast was very nice. Rooms were clean and functional. Hotel was off on a side street so it was quiet.

This hotel is... all about its location. From there, you can walk anywhere in central Moscow which would normally cost you much more. The hotel itself is interesting. Rooms are simple and clean but what makes it interesting is its authenticity. Service is ok; you get what you need. Breakfast was included which is really great as meals aren't cheap in central Moscow and the breakfast selection is really good.

The only advantage to this hotel is its location and few blocks walk to the Bolshoi Theatre and Red Square, however, the cost for that is the noisy restaurants along the street which went until 6am on Saturday morning. The room was small and stuffy. The hotel is old, part of its charm is the almost Tsarist air of the architecture, but these days it is the poor cousin of the Hotel Peter 1 around the corner. There is no wifi but the staff send guests around the corner to use the free wifi in the lobby of Peter 1 and they also share the Concierge service. Both are excellent but this is not all that convenient especially if the weather is bad. The breakfast was mediocre and the breakfast room was small and the tables very close together.

Room Tip: Rooms which face away from the street maybe quieter
