It is no news that Moscow is super expensive, especially the hotels and the restaurants. I normally stay at the Moscow Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel or Moscow Marriott Tverskaya Hotel and even Courtyard Moscow City Center. They are always great and welcomed and make you feel like home again. But that one time all of them were booked, so I had a very little option, but chosen the Renaissance wasn't disappointed at all. Rooms were small, but very clean and super cozy, nice service. It appears to me this hotel is great for business, seminars and etc. Definitely is not a very romantic place and a little too far from all the attractions as well. But if you have no other choice ..at least everything is up to American standards. The breakfast buffet was awesome.

We stayed at Renaissance Moscow Hotel for 4 nights. As we had experienced Renaissance Hotels before, we were aware of the general situation.
Check in was fast. The staff was very welcoming & helpful. Their English speaking ability was good enough (as in Russia its a real problem!).
The room was a little small but comfortable enough. A king size comfy bed. Room amenities were almost complete: Minibar, Tea maker, In-room safe, Iron/ironing board, Designer toiletries, Makeup/shaving mirror, Clock radio, Voice mail, Turndown service (on request), Internet access (surcharge for in room).
However free high-speed Internet was accessible in the lobby.
The lobby was a bit hot. The leather furniture in the lobby was old & made you sweat.
The buffet breakfast in Vienna cofe' was excellent: a wide range of choices. I loved their omelettes! The only problem was the restaurant's staff who was in hurry to collect food remains from your table when you were eating!
The location is not near downtown & there is a 20 min walk to the nearest Metro station. We were not aware of the free shuttle bus which hotel does provide to downtown.
On the whole we were satisfied with our stay & recommend this hotel.

The hotel is not located Downtown but near the Prospect Metro station. The hotel does provide a free shuttle bus that will bring you to the Red square or Pushin square depending on the time of day and it runs till midnight., takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get there. The pick up/return trip is free as well and VERY much on time.
It is located depending on traffic anywhere from 30 min to 90 minutes from SVO airport.

The rooms are nice, new with plenty of good amenities. The pool is a big enough to get a swim in. Although not an olympic size pool, it is big enough. I belive you can get into the olympic swimming hall nearby. The sauna and its provisions are excellent.
The hotel restaurant is fairly priced for Moscow and the food quality is good enough. The onsite bakery (think pastries) has a good selection. There is an exchange office and atm onsite, next to the bakery.

The staff is extremely friendly and accoomodating. Everyone I have run in with was very friendly and courteous. Additionally, everyonme speaks or has an understanding of English, so no worries if you do not speak Russian.
The breakfast is a must. The set up is very well done, an enormous amount of great quality choices and it will provide a great start for the day.

So what is the drawback? If you want to be next to the main toursit area, this is not the hotel for you. If you can deal with the very timely free shuttle, there really is no better priced option nearby that will offer you the same amenities.
Internet is free and fast in the lobby, however in room it is about $35/day I believe.

Have a great time and enjou Moscow.

I love the vibrant colours in the room. Its a breakaway from those monotonous colour that other hotel usually have. Like those bold colours in the room.
However, the room is rather small for my liking. The edge of the bed is almost reaching the TV cabinet. The bathroom is pretty standard and practical.
The plus point is that the hotel provide free shuttle to the Red Sq and the shoppping square. If you miss the shuttle to the Red Sq just take the one heading to the shopping area cos you could actually walk there. Its not too far about 10 mins walk and you get to see Moscow a bit more :D
The hotel also provide free WiFi in the lobby aread. It has dedicated area for hotel guests to access internet complete with electric point. You can get an adapter from the front desk. It amuse me that the hotel go great length to provide free wifi and also benches for ppl to work on the computer at the lobby but not free wifi in the room....
All in all the hotel provided a good services. The location of the hotel is ok.

We stayed at the Renaissance Moscow Hotel at the end of April for our wedding anniversary treat. We were very pleased with our choice, the rooms are very spacious and comfortable with a huge bed. The breakfast choice was truly excellent, it was difficult to do it justice!

We found the staff very helpful and friendly, that was very welcome after a long journey. The location is a little way out, there is not much going on in the area, but 20 minutes walk away there is a good choice of restaurants and a metro station. We took advantage of the free shuttle bus that takes you to Red Square (very impressive) and Pushkin Square, that is a very useful way to get around. The hotel is in an area undergoing some regeneration, but that did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay.

We found Moscow itself very impressive and a really lovely city, much nicer than we were expecting. They have certainly embraced capitalism now! The hotel being so nice was the icing on the cake; we would have no hesitation recommending it to other people.
