Moscow Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel

We traveld with a tour group to Moscow for the World Track & Field Championships. We stayed at the Marriott Royal Aurora for 10 nights. We enjoyed the hotel very much. It is in a great location - convenient to several shopping streets, the Moscow Metro and the Bolshoi Ballet Theater. The hotel has a relatively new interior, shiny marble in the lobby, a great dining room where we were served a great buffet breakfast every morning. We just gave them our room number. The other restaurants in the hotel are relatively expensive. (For example, went to the lobby bar where my wife and I each had a bowl of soup, a Coke to drink and a California Roll to share. The bill was $100.) But Moscow is an expensive city. We definitely felt at home at the Royal Aurora.

1 week in Moscow at one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. The health club was amazing, not your average pocket pool, but one with resistance! huge hot tub, dry and wet saunas, lockers - absolutely and huge plus to staying here! We upgraded to the executive level and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet and evening blue cheese and apple with my glass of wine. The staff was exceptional!

Room Tip: don't stay on the 7th floor - window was too high to see out.

After all the Negative feedback about Moscow I was a little sceptical about my trip. On arriving at the Hotel we were met with friendly and helpful staff. At breakfast the staff were well versed in the English language therefore no issues there. The food was of Buffet style with an Omelette station . coffee and juice service always with a smile. The room was excellent ,bedding changed daily which was refreshing .Money exchange very good on site .The bar is very expensive so be careful there. Very well situated for downtown ,within walking distance to the Metro and Bolshoi also Kremlin not too far.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise

From check-in to departure, every one went out of his way to be helpful. Great location, and many good restaurants withing walking distance. Concierge was able to make good recommendations, even for non-Russian restaurants, so I was able to get great Azarbaijani and Chinese food without any effort on my part.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are better, as there is occasional noise from the hotel atrium.

Have stayed here many times since 2006 and the places continues to get better. First of all, it has what we in the USA consider normal sized hotel rooms and beds which already gives it an advantage over most if not all of the other pricy hotels in the center of Moscow. Location is great and continues to get better as many of the surrounding side streets have been transformed into pedestrian walkways full of pricy shops and good restaurants. Of course, it is a short walk to Red Square and the Kremlin as well as the Bolshoy Theater.

The 24 hour pool is another great plus to this hotel and now they have free wifi in the lobby.Try to get a rate that includes breakfast as it is expensive otherwise. Also if you have Marriott Gold/Platinum status or can afford it, the executive lounge is one of the best I have ever been in. Lots of food in the evening, fresh juices and drinks all day long and a big breakfast selection in the morning.

I consider this a very good hotel with a lovely swimming pool and jacuzzi. The room is comfortable with a DVD player. I actually brought some of my DVDs to this hotel to watch. The breakfast is just average and not quite enjoyable. The selection is not much you can just eat till you are full. But I like the overall decorations of this hotel. Regarding location, it is just a short walk from the Bolshoi Theatre and TSUN Department Store. I also walked to the old ciucus from the hotel, which is not quite possible if you stay in other hotels. One thing though, I hope the hotel would send questionnaires to customers after their stay to show that they care about how their customers feel during the time when they stay in the hotel. I often receive customer questionnaires when I stay in other hotels such as Hilton, Sheraton and Shangri-la.

Room Tip: I was given a room on the 5th floor (highest 6th floor). The view is better on higher floors.

We were in Moscow to see Onegin (ballet) at the Bolshoi.. This hotel is just a short walk to the Bolshoi theatre so it was perfect. Our room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was a buffet with many choices - also had an omelette station.
Staff were very helpful with directions and suggestions. Short walk to Red Square.
