What a lot of big-name painters of the period in one place! In addition there is good viewing (you can get close and far), good price, no line to get in. I did think the lighting was non-optimal.
The State Pushkin Museum of Fine Art – annex
The annex of the main museum is situated alongside the main building with its own entrance and entrance fee. Here are housed a gob-smacking collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings by artists such as Matisse, Gaugin, Picasso etc.
An absolute ‘Must’ for anyone interested in art of that period.
There is a small café and shop on the ground floor and good, clean toilets.
The only downside on our visit, was some grumpy staff particularly on the reception desk. Some customer service training would not go amiss.
This is one of the worlds major art galleries with a large collection of iconic paintings from the impressionists to Picasso, Matisse and a lot more.
I love museums like this-especially with impressionist. They also said the place has americans, but that collection is quite weak. But monet, manet, renior are all represented by at least 6 pieces each. Gaugan is here also and while these are not the most important pieces of the great artists, they do show their natural study and technique that made them great.
Great gallery with exceptional paintings, particularly for those who love the Impressionists and Picasso.
Staff not really friendly and helpful if you are non-Russian tourist. When we asked for plan of the gallery in English language we were told we can get Chinese one if we don't like Russian one.
The old sculptures are copies. But it gives you the possibility to see almost all sculptures of Michelangelo in one hall!
An excellent collection of impressionists (especially Paul Gauguin), iconic van Gogh and Picasso...
And very rare thing in Moscow - good espresso in museum's cafe
