“Narkomfin is crumbling”
Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

If you are interested in Constructivist and/or radical Soviet architecture you should definitely take a look at Narkomfin while you still can. It is in a pretty dilapidated state and as I understand it has been acquired by a developer for redevelopment.

I reached narkomfin by walking along the garden ring from novy ulitsa arbat just past the American embassy and going down an alleyway just to the right of the building. I then entered the grounds surrounding narkomfin and walked towards what was formerly the communal facilities block I believe.

You can also approach narkomfin by taking the first Road to the left of the embassy if you are walking the Road to the south. That takes you to the other side of the building.

The building is falling apart with a lot of exposed brick work and broken windows the glass of which lays scattered around you as you walk.

I walked across the front of the building and then walked around the side and across the back.

Really it was just good to see narkomfin first hand.
