“A Respectable Hotel For A Ruble-wise Traveler”
Reviewed December 13, 2010

This hotel is not ideal for English Speaking travelers because most of their staff is deficient in English.Nevertheless, considering the amount of money that i paid for my room,it was a good deal.My room was clean, quiet,in a good neighborhood near a Metro station, and their staff was cheerful to me,even though I know about 10 words of Russian. It is not the National or Metropole hotels, but for someone who needed to watch his rubles,it suited me fine for thirteen nights.

We had to stay in Moscow for 4 days and decided to book this hotel because of its location (close to metro station) and price. As a whole, we were satisfied: the room was clean, the shared bathroom was also clean (though they accidentally left a cleaning cloth in the bathroom the first day we checked in, but the second day the issue was fixed).
The breakfast is good, however it is served in a bar which is a smoking area (there is no smoke-free breakfast place).
The furniture in the room was old, and sometimes the bottom of my bed would break down to the floor :) (I weigh around 65 kilos, it would break when I just fell down to the bed). We had to lift the mattress in order to put the planks back into their slots. :) However the second bed was fine, no problems with it.
The personnel was mostly polite (there was just one woman at the reception who seemed too much annoyed with everything).
The overall impression is fine, it is a cheap hotel with decent service.

We were pleasantly surprised by Hotel Moskvich. The room is a good size, beds comfortable and the room had a TV and fridge. This was for an economy twin with shared bathroom. The bathroom was only shared between three rooms as well so this was a massive plus - we've used shared facilities with whole floors elsewhere in Russia!

The staff were friendly enough although only one member of staff we encountered spoke English on the desk - luckily she was there on check in and check out. They registered our visas as a service for free (only 2 rubles transaction per night) which was also a pleasant surprise! The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the metro station Texstilchiki, which is only one change from the main 3 train stations (Leningradsky, Kazansky and Yaroslavl stations)

The only downside we can really cite is the thin walls. We unfortunately had a bit of a noisy neighbour who liked slamming doors. He also had a female friend with him on the last day of our stay, who was definitely not present with him for the rest of his stay - like I said thin walls!

Take some earplugs and you'll be fine - this hotel represents good value for money in a country that likes making tourists pay through the nose!

Stayed here 4 nights in October 2008 for the first time. Fifth time in Moscow and the *4 where I had stayed before (overstated) had overpriced itself.

Arrived by train from St P and taxi, before 9.00 am and had immediate access to room, no extra charge. It's majorly a residential area.

The room was very affordable. One of lowest price *3 listed and everything was first rate. Travelling solo, had a single with shared bathroom/toilet with common entrance 1 other room. Never an issue. These amenities too were first rate. 5-10 minutes to the metrro and easy access to the centre. 4 metro stops to Kitay-Gorod and you are 10 mins from Red Square.

Enjoyed my stay at Moskvich. Hotel has good amenities but breakfast..... included in price but meagre and no selection. They need to improve on this.
Service is fine and sometimes better than that. No problems.

To depart, walked/wheeled my bag to the metro, 6 stops to Chekhovskaya, change to the grey line and 3 stops to Savyolovskaya metro which is also a train station, where the Air Express leaves for Sheremetyev 2 (International).
Better than the going rate for taxis, for sure.

If your idea is affordable accommodation and value for money, I rate this highly.
