I will never recommend this restaurant to friends. I was heard that this restaurant was good one time. However, old georgian men serving there are very unpleasant and even rude. If you order something they always ask me again as they are laughing at us. Also, old waiters always tried to make us order something expensive. Terrible experience I got here. Just view of Novodevich Monastery is ok, service and price are not acceptable.

I was taken here aft a week of high end Mosovite restaurants. Celebrating its 25th year U Pirosmani was a real treat, from its down home exterior and quirky interior, to the extreme,y warm welcome.

Sadly the English translations of the menu were not hugely descriptive to allow me to really pick apart the menu, b everything was delicious. My colleague had eaten here some 3 years ago and I am reassured that the quality is high always. A selection of cold starters mixed simple vegetable and spicy bean pastes with homemade cheese-stuffed flatbreads. A cold stew of chicken in a walnut sauce was exceptional. A fresh herb salad was a real palette cleanser especially a beautiful purple basil. Main courses of notes were Lamb chops cooked on an open grill and a Mutton stew flavored with unknown spices.

Delicious.

We decided to have dinner there because my travel guide and some friends advised it.
Very much disappointing experience! Later, we found out they had been there a couple of years ago... so, maybe something must have changed in the kitchen!
Nice restaurant, nice view on the Novodevichy Convent (if lucky to get one of the few tables on that side), good service (the staff can speak English and are very nice), however the food is disappointing, nothing special, still very pricey. I ordered veel and got lamb, but realized it from the bones, as there was no particular flavor. Same no-flavor the pork.
It is not worth at all the money, not even for the view. You can get better Georgian food for much less in Moscow.

p.s. They didn't accept credit cards. I am not sure if always or if we were particularly lucky

U Pirosmani is one of the first private restaurants opened in Moscow at the end of the Soviet time. At nineties most of the high ranked person in trip to Moscow, including foreign presidents, prime ministers, singers etc visited this restaurant. The food quality is excellent, as well as the inside atmosphere.

Nice, old-style unusual interior, sort of has the feel of eating in a nice, old house. It has a good view of the Novodevichy Monastery. Like many Georgian restaurants, there seems to be a lot of friends and family milling about. Someone was dining with their large dog who walked around greeting other customers. Also like many Georgian restaurants in Moscow, there was live music that may not be everyone's cup of tea. Prices are on the high side for Georgian food, but fair by overall Moscow standards. Food was good, but not overly impressive. House was wine was overpriced.
