“Great value-Great host”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Though the pictures of this hotel when viewed online were a bit misleading, once we found the building, back from the street in the University district of the city, we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by the friendly hostess during the day, who even advised us where to watch the football (soccer) games later on that evening. I found our room to be clean, though there were some dead insect patterns on the ceiling, but no direct issues with insects, The view was not great either, but for the price and the proximity you cannot beat it. Plus, you can get to the observation deck of the hotel in the center of the city to view and photograph all the sites. The Hotel manager was overly accommodating, kind, speaks English and Italian, and likely other languages, and is very experienced in travel and teaching. He personally woke up the next morning at 5AM to put out coffee and breakfast for us, and called us a cab to the train station. We loved this city the most of the four we visited, and I believe very strongly our hotel experience played a significant roll.

Room Tip: If you can, try to book a high room at the street facing side. You may egt a good view of the sites...

I was, as a traveler to find this property a comforatable interlude in my stay in the city of Timisoara the site for the Revoultion to Democracy 1989. Overall the hotel is very very clean, room was more than sufficent for the price and was attended by a top notch housekeeper that ensured the cleanliness and my personel itmes. The receptionist was, with her knowledge of english, very helpfull in any and all questions pretaining to city historical sites and making needed reservations to the restaraunts of this historical city of 450,000. Morning european breakfast was excellent and offered a wide variety of choices. Very convient to city center in walking distance of approx 10-15 min. A wonderfull shopping mall named Iulius MALL to wetten the appeties of all type of shoppers. To visit again, to this city I highly recommend Hotel Valentina. The reason not to give 5 out of 5 was the difficulty in finding the Hotel once arrived by train to TIMISOARA. The Hotel management have taken steps to locate better signage to help both taxis and vacationers to find this diamond in the rough.

Room Tip: recommend that early reservations be made on CHEAPTICKETS .COM and search at TIMISOARA, Romaia

We searched for this hotel 2 hours!!! The sign was on the opposite side of the one way street so only people walking could read it! When we called after much effort to find a phone they told us they were BEHIND another hotel. We asked multiple taxi drivers who could not tell us where th hotel was. Even the police tried to help us find this place and could not!!! The attitude of the staff was "Oh well we have other guests. We do not need you."

If you weren't first to breakfast they did not replenish the food. One very tiny cup of coffee was the limit.

The service of this hotel was great. Everybody spoke great english and was very caring. The last night we asked at what time breakfast started because we wanted to leave early. They said 7:30 AM, but if we wanted earlier they could do it earlier. The next morning by 7 AM they had it ready for us. The beds are a little soft and could be better. The location is fine, not in the center, but 12 minutes walking to Unirii square and it has a minimarket just across the street. It is behind another hotel, and the sign pointing there is not very visible. There were mosquitos in the room, as everywhere in Timisoara during this time of the year, but they had an electric repellent in the room.

Thank you for reminding us that the District Streets have undergone a major change of directions. We changed the signs....If you come next time you will find better directions. Have a great day!

Having spent only one night here, my impression is a bit limited, but the hotel was ok. It's a bit hidden (behind another hotel), and a 10-15 minutes tramride into town, but once you know this it's no trouble. The area is mainly residential, and doesn't have too much going on.

The hotel seems a bit schizophrenic about its status. When booking and on some signs it says "hotel", whereas some signs there have a hand-painted "s" there to say "hostel". I'd say it's about a two-star hotel and that they should make up their minds.

Checking in was effortless, and the gentleman doing this - probably the owner - was very welcoming, and offered a cup of coffee as well.

The room was a double of acceptable size, but could do with more storage space and more sound isolation. Another minus is the lack of proper curtains, which means there'll always be a fair amount of light flooding in. The bathroom was decorated with rather shocking orange tiles and a stupid step in the middle, but was otherwise clean and functional. A distinct minus was the pink toilet paper of ludicrous quality. On the positive side the air conditioning was very effective and the bed was rather ok.

At breakfast the choice was somewhat limited, but was ok to start the day with. The same attendant mentioned above was there and gave tips and helped with the coffee machine, as well as doing a bit of small talk.

In all I think the hotel is OK for the price, but don't expect too much. A great plus was the welcoming owner(?), which made you feel very welcome and did everything to be of assistance. I wouldn't object to stay here again.

The hotel is located far from the city center, actually the price of a room is quite small.
The problem is that although I held doors and windows always closed, the room was full of mosquitoes, so many that I could hardly sleep at night. Probably came from the cracks in the walls and doors, as the quality of construction materials was decidedly poor.
The bed where I slept was also half broken and it creaked constantly.
In return, the breakfast was adequate but would never return in this hotel.

What can I say....Should I agree with you? Probably in some parts...but you may read also what some one says: see a review that says just like this. I would say that "bad" makes more noise than "good". At any rate we will keep in mind that we have to strive for the best. Out of 100 customers only three or four write a review and out of these three or four you find only those who were not happy. Where are the other 94? They were happy with what they were offered...as a matter of fact our hotel is "nice cheap hotel, clean and central" as that customer said. We agree, we can do better and will do so! Do not forget to pass by when you come to Timisoara. We will welcome you with open arms.!

Value for money wise this was a decent enough place to stay. Although a couple of members of our group who occupied 2 downstairs rooms complained of the noise from the Domestic staff as they went about their business. Tough - we stayed on the top floor and it was VERY quiet !!
It is reasonably well placed and in the Student area so there is plenty of life and taxis are easy to obtain nearby.
It is situated at the back of a quiet courtyard.
Bit surprised that we were unable to find an English language station on the tv.
Bit of a problem with mosquitoes in the room, but a quite effective repellent device is provided.
Overall - the place was ok, but a bit of a re-furb would not go amiss
