So if you happen to find yourself in north west Romania, just a right turn from Hungary you may find yourself at Timisoara which is an interesting blend of culture and universities. I stayed here at the Best Western ambassador and it was pretty good. The staff were very helpful,English was good and the people were friendly. Breakfast was typically European, cold meats, cheese etc but the coffee was a machine made abomination, rarely do I recommend it but instant coffee would be a better option. Had dinner at the hotel and it was good, just a tip ...Ambassador potatoes are an odd soft potato mash with nutmeg(?) which is then piped onto a plate and put under a griller, my tip, choose an alternative. My colleague and I both had soup both were excellent. Oh and have a Timisoara beer, excellent local brew.

Room Tip: Make sure if you want a non-smoking room that your door has a no smoking sign on it, otherwise it is almost guaranteed to be a room that has been and likely still is a smoker. Also note not all rooms on a floor are smoking or non smoking, so it is typically Eastern European and smokey.

This is my 3rd stay at the Ambassador and I have to say the rooms have greatly improved. The service is always curteous and very helpful. The hotel is a walk away from the centre of Timisaora but is worth a try especially if on business.

All in all (price/quality), one of the best hotels we have ever been to. Rooms are spacious, beds are extremely comfortable, everything is clean and smells nice :). Bathroom is great, it looks pretty new. There was a variety of food and drinks for breakfast - everything was tasty (fruit, yoghurt, eggs, ham, lots of different cheese, onion rings, vegetables, salads, pastry, coffee, tee, orange juice,...). The staff is really helpful, nothing is ever hard for them and they speak English very good. Sauna is small, but you always have privacy. Location is not bad at all - a 20-minute walk to downtown. We would recommend this hotel to everyone!

+Professional, and genuinely friendly service
+Large, spacious, well-equipped rooms
+Good value
+Good Wifi

-Location is not good (maybe good if you have a car because they have parking but there is no neighborhood life around at all, few if any stores, restaurants...and have to walk far to get anywhere)
-Aircon in our room didn't work well, it was ok when the nights cooled down but during a summer heat wave could be a problem

Overall, though, very satisfied.

This hotel is at really good european standards.
The decoration is a little bit "rococo" but it doesn't matter.
I stayed on the 4th floor in a suite: large room with a couch and a flat screen 26'' TV.
The bathroom is well equiped with a spa bathtub.

Room Tip: Ask a suite at the 4th floor (be careful the decoration style is rococo) If you prefer regular hotel room standard, take a room on the 3rd floor (garden side)
