The Church of Monastery Voronet, founded by the Prince Stephen the Great in 1488 is for the entire world "The Sistine Chapel of the Orient". The Blue of Voronet, which is the dominant colour in the outside paintings, it is considered by the specialists being unique in the world, and also very known like the red of Rubens or the green of Veronese. The Church is in UNESCO patrimony. So if you come in Bucovina, Romania please visit that unique monument.

“Best of the painted monasteries”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

We visited three painted monasteries. While they were all beautiful, this one is the best. If you only have time for one, this one is probably the one to pick. It's amazing how the exterior painting survived all of those centuries of the elements. There's a huge touristy market outside in which you can buy all kinds of trinkets.

“superb painted monastery in wonderful setting.”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Absolute joy to see the Monastery with its wonderful exterior frescos. Superb interior.
Run by the most miserable set of nuns who seem to resent visitors while charging for photos - exterior only.
