The hotel Villa Morgane is a family house in Saint-Pierre, a very convenient departing point to reach the most attractive places in Reunion, like the volcano, Entre-Deux and Le Dimitile, as well as the eastern coast and the road surrounding the volcano, really impressive with the different lavas flowing into the sea.
The room we stayed in was the room Venice, the smallest of all. The size of the room is quite ok, I believe even a bit more than the 12 square metres announced in the hotel´s site. Not much room to move when you are carrying heavy luggage, but wit space enough for two. It is located on the ground level, leading to the side garden. A really quiet room, you will be able to sleep well without noises. The walls are painted in fresco style, nothing unpleasant, rather the contrary. Amenities are provided by the house with shampoo and gel being refilled every day instead of providing you with one different bottle every day. As long as the bottles are big enough for two, nothing against being ecological.
The bed is confortable, there is a cupboard to hang your clothes, a suitcase holder, two night-tables (beside tables), a big chest of drawers and a minibar, as well as some chips. Prices for the food and drinks? As usual in any hotel, higher than the average, but this is not a point to decrease the value of the stay at any rate! The bathroom is modern and very good furbished, many towels and bathrobe provided, considering that you may want to enjoy the nice pool in the upper garden. Really a value when you arrive from a long day hiking, a nice swim in the pool (deeper than the lagoons, by the way). The bedlinen is pretty ok, only the cover could be more attractive, but that is a matter of each one's taste, not really an objective criteria.
Breakfast is very tasty, including fresh fruit, the chance to make your own orange juice by using the citrus presser provided; some salami, ham and a good cheese assortment. Different kinds of bread, a sweet thing (one day we found homemade crepes, another one, croissants) and really tasty fruit marmelades complete the offer. Better than many hotel buffets, and with a more familiar touch. More than enough to resist until the afternoon without feeling hungry. Coffee and teas are of course available.
The service was excellent. Both Chantal and her husband are really friendly and concerned about your needs. We even asked her for a restaurant suggestion in Saint Pierre and we ended up in a cool place to eat creole for a very reasonable price as well! All in all, a reccomendable place to stay in La Reunion!
Only the surroundings do not fit with the house/hotel, somehow I would not like to wander around in the night in some areas around the hotel, and it is highly recommendable to take the car if you want to go to Saint Pierre after sunset. The price is high in comparison to a similar hotel in many European countries, but better than the average in La Reunion, where lodging is more expensive than here. We stayed afterwards in a different hotel in Saint-Gilles Le Bain, more expensive and honestly, not worth its price at all. For the same daily fee you could have had a suite in Villa Morgane, much better! In this point, La Reunion is far too expensive and comparing it in its local context, Villa Morgane has reasonable prices for the service provided.
