I was a student at Wells college many years ago and always hoped to return to the Inn to stay. I did, with my husband, son, and his family this past weekend. We were on our way to Cornell for our granddaughter's graduation. From the moment we arrived in this charming village, we were welcomed by everyone and show to a beautifully decorated, expansive room overlooking Cayuga Lake. Parking was right out front and an elevator in this restored building made for easy access to our third floor room.
The dinig room was charming with suggestion of an 1800's posting inn. Delicious gourmet fare with excellent wine options and prompt and gracious service.
As my husband said, "Next to the graduation ceremonies, my favorite time was spent at the Aurora Inn!"

I boked the Inn from a Living Social deal. The price offered was fantastic. I was a little leary though - sometimes pictures and brochures are enhanced to make it look good. Driving up around the lake on the way was simply beautiful. Upon arrival, the Inn looked exactly like it did in the pictures. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was supurb. It actually looked just like the picture! The bathroom felt like a high end spa. The room was large. Having our own porch was amazing. They delivered fresh coffee and muffins every AM so we were able to utilize the porch. The food from the restaurant was excellent! Very tasty. Slightly on the pricey side though. Glad part of the cost was included in the deal. Words can't describe how beautiful the Inn really is. It's sister Inn - E.B. Morgan House was just as beautiful. The Innkeeper there was very helpful. Sitting in the yard, watching the lake, was a wonderful escape from real life!

Room Tip: Wait for a room overlooking the lake!

We spent a wonderful two nights at the E B Morgan House, the sister accommodation of
the Aurora Inn, just down the street. Our room (9) was lovely, decorated with great care
and thoughtfulness to detail. And, of course, it was spotlessly clean, for which we thank
Stacey, the head housekeeper. Linda, who manages the house during the week, was welcoming and friendly, with an excellent sense of humour, all in all the perfect hostess for an inn. The property is beautiful, right on the lake, with sloping lawns down to the water and Adirondack chairs placed strategically so that you can sit and watch the sunset. Unfortunately for us, it rained on the two evenings we were there, so sunsets were off the
agenda, but it didn't make any difference to our perfect stay. My only regret is that we couldn't pull ourselves out of the comfortable bed in the morning to experience Linda's
early morning muffins and coffee. We did manage to get up in time to have a yummy breakfast down the street at The Aurora Inn (see separate review).
When we were told the story of Pleasant T. Rowland (google her!!!) and what she has accomplished in the town, we were extremely impressed. Although it seems that a number
of the locals do not approve of all the restorations (the definition of "change" in a small-town dictionary is "what you put in the parking meter"), those naysayers should realize that the influx of money into the town has quite literally saved it, introducing countless jobs, and turning the town into a thriving, beautiful community that people like us, from Northern Ontario, Canada, want to come and visit. We had never heard of Aurora or The Aurora Inn until we read about its resurgence over the last few years. We
were not just passing through - this was a destination for us. Quite frankly, we loved what
has been done in this beautiful little town and, based on the way it is now, we would definitely come back. The only sour note in our stay was The Fargo Bar and Grill (see separate review), where we had dinner on the second night of our stay.
Since our stay was in April, we were at the end of the winter season, and there was not a lot of colour in gardens or foliage. We can only imagine how lovely it would be in full summer or autumn, or even winter. We will be back!

We have had the pleasure of staying in many lovely places but the Aurora Inn is the best! The staff is professional and personable, competent and congenial. They attend to the "big picture" as well as the small details which capture the essence of an unforgettable getaway. We were treated with respect and good humor. The cuisine was exquisite and all three servers --- Ben, Brett and Dale --- were excellent and efficient. The bed was heavenly, the gas fireplace cozy, the lake view incredible and the ambience one of serenity and grace. We would be remiss to not publicly acknowledge the warm welcome we received from Beth at the front desk and the subsequent superlative care she and her staff rendered throughout our stay --- the quintessential host of a B & B!

Room Tip: Ask for lakeside room with fireplace & porch

I should start by saying I never write reviews for places. Ever.

I purchased a deal for the Aurora Inn on livingsocial.com. The deal itself was great, and the inn was just lovely. The staff was helpful, the in-house restaurant was wonderful, and the place itself was beautiful. So many small thoughtful things that added to the experience. Room service twice a day (the second time in the evening, they leave chocolates on the bed), breakfast downstairs OR muffins/coffee delivered to your room, more fireplaces in one building than I've ever seen.

Room Tip: Lake views are the best

Stayed in the king suite - room was more than expected. Separate sitting area, great bathroom with separate shower and whirlpool bath. Food offered in restaurant was upper end expensive with limited choices, but delicious. Only complaint - down pillows on bed were too soft, resulted in a poor nights sleep.

All the positives already mentioned are absolutely true. We loved our stunning yellow room with the black and white toile details, luxurious amenities and elegant touches. We booked the least expensive room, since it was all that was left, so I can only imagine how beautiful the others must be. The scenery was gorgeous at this time of year. The town, as such, is very quiet and there's absolutely nothing to do unless you are a Mackenzie Childs fanatic (of which, we learned, there are actually many). But we wanted a rest and that's what we got. Apparently, the place is very busy on the weekends as it is much admired as a destination wedding venue. But it was very quiet when we were there. Driving around the countryside is breathtaking in the fall. The wineries are on the opposite side of the lake, which requires some driving. The food at the inn was pretty excellent for breakfast and dinner. Dinner books up quickly and they don't seem to give any special deference to hotel guests, so you have to make a reservation asap if you have a preferred time.
You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere (no offense) but everything is very sophisticated. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful, too. People travelling with children were graciously treated.
