I've heard about it from some friends but only got to try it last week. This is an alternative place to tatoy's and Breakthrough. We ordered a green papaya salad (a little touch of Thai) but with slices of chicken Inasal on the side (now that makes it Ilonggo). The seafood Kare-Kare, although not Ilonggo, was close to Luzon authentic. The mixed grilled seafood was also fresh and light. I'd like to try the other dishes next time.

If you happen to be in Iloilo, you have to go to PUNOT restaurant.

Family run , by the river, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and fantastic food. Try to get a table upstairs on the outside veranda to enjoy both the food and the activity of people strolling on the boardwalk ,

John the Chef had done a great job putting together a nice variety of local dishes . I liked the food so much that I had Lunch and Dinner on my way and again on the way back :)

I would recommend the following .
As a starter , Estancia showder with Mix Seafood, the liempo chips or the Pamelo Balingon .
For main, do not miss the Black Pasta Dinagyang and the Seafood ala Punot, I also loved the Gambas Ilongo and chicken Binakol.

The chocolate desert is also excellent ,

Very friendly and efficient staff. A place I will definitely go back to next time I am in Iloilo

This restaurant is one of Iloilo's best kept secrets. It will grow in popularity by word of mouth. It's clientele includes the well known personalities of Iloilo - both from government and the business community.

You wouldn't believe that such great tasting food exist in a very unassuming place. This is a new restaurant in the city with a very creative and humble chef - Chef Tope. The manager, Miss April, is very accommodating. You will be surprised once you tasted their unique dishes.

Must try - Estancia chowder, which is like clam chowder. imbao - a seasonal shellfish I think which is new to my palate. kinilaw shots - tangigue in vinegar served in shot glasses. calamares duo - combination of squid and shrimp. The shrimp and squid inside the batter is tender and juicy. Their version of the local kare-kare is the BEST that I have tasted in the whole Panay Island. I didn't like the liempo chips. The pork skin is too hard.

The locals may find their food a bit pricey but as compared to Manila, you cannot have these heavenly food in such a good location, at such reasonable price.
