We stopped here before going to Guimares and then onto Boracay.
The family who run it were really nice and our room cost PHP450. Somehow, despite feeling like a guesthouse that someone somehow forgot to close down, the place has character - and that combined with cheerful staff makes it just fine for a stopover.
We chose a cheaper room with a fan, a toilet with no seat, bizarrely a picnic table and chairs, an ashtray with a fag butt still in it and strong evidence of termites - am I selling it to you!? But oddly enough, the polished oak cabinet, the clean and comfortable bed, excellent wi-fi (PHP50 extra) and slightly quieter location made it ok.
What really made this stay for us though was the music. We went elsewhere for dinner and arrived back and decided to check the bar out that is attached to the guesthouse.
We were very surprised when we walked in. The place was heaving and not a chair in sight - everyone was sitting on cushions on the floor at low, candelit tables. A brilliant band played everything from local stuff to classic, western covers and they did a much better job of some of the original cheesier numbers! The staff were attentive and drinks very reasonably priced. We hadn't heard any decent live music for ages so were really pleased - if you stay here, do make the effort and go!
