L'Fisher Chalet
Reviewed February 12, 2013

When we went to Bacolod for a wedding, the L 'Fisher Hotel was already fully booked by our host, so we were booked at the adjacent Chalet of L 'Fisher (which was also full). The rooms were new and clean. There was a ref, cable t.v., wi-fi, safe. The sliding door to the porch was locked and we didn't bother to have it unlocked anymore. The view was just houses. It has a very good roof deck which housed the pools, the spa and the restaurant. We went for the plated breakfast but after tasting it, we decided we'll just have our meals at the Ripples of L 'Fisher. The food tasted as if it was cooked in rancid oil. The view from the roofdeck was really good.

Room Tip: The place is located at the back of L 'Fisher Hotel so there was not much traffic noise. Any roo...

My partner and I stayed eight nights in L'Fisher Chalet when visiting relatives in Bacolod. We're satisfied enough.
We came from Manila where we stayed in Sofitel. The difference is huge between these two hotels. It's impossible to compare them, even if both are five-stared. Sofitel truly is a luxurious haven, but L'Fisher instead -- if the hotel was in Europe it would be a three-star hotel. Maximum.
Anyway, we didn't have so much expectations since we had booked a budget room in a hotel that's located in a provincial city of a developing country. Our room was small and simple and it came with a tiny double bed, a small closet, a dressing table and an old television.
Although the decor isn't too bad -- actually it's kinda nice -- everything looks more or less worn. Walls and floors are full of stains everywhere: in a room, in a corridor, in a stairway.
Roof top pool looks great, like a paradise above streets, but water could be clearer.
Luckily enough, we didn't see any cockroaches or bedbugs that we were most scared for.
Breakfast needs the biggest improvement. Firstly, it's not a buffet. Instead, they serve a plated breakfast. One can choose from a few choices. After couple of mornings, we already got bored with the poor selection. Secondly, the breakfast is for Asian taste only, and thirdly, the quality of food is low. Corned beef, for example, taste like from can.
Other thing we found irritating was their very strict regulation concerning food and beverages. One evening we were stopped by a guard telling us we aren't allowed to bring any drinks and food to our room from outside the hotel. And what did we have in our grocery bags? Two bottles of water! But we got it in.
We only paid about 20 euros per night so not too much whining. Moreover, the bath amenities were supplied every single day despite we haven't finished the older ones yet.
Staff's attitudes varies. Some are kind and attentive, some uninterested and doesn't put effort to customer service at all. Cleaner boys in our floor were really friendly and professional.

My boyfriend and I stayed almost all of December 2012 and we enjoyed it very much. The restaurants were great and the bakery had really good desserts. The gym was decent and the trainer was very helpful. We recommend the fresh mango margarita on the pool bar, so good! The rooftop pool was nice, great for sunbathing. The front desk staff were very helpful and polite. The front door guards were such sweethearts they always had a smile on their face. We also enjoyed the spa treatments at the cocoon spa. Only issue I had was the wifi, very annoying! I hate having to log on each time I go on the Internet if you lost your password you had to go get a new one, I should only log on once like most places.

We stayed in this hotel over 2 years ago already. The room we got was spacious, neat, & very affordable. Breakfast choices though were limited then, I'm not so sure about now. Pool is kid-friendly, our kids enjoyed it. They have a pool bar which me & my hubby liked too. Their spa is average in service, but price is reasonable. Staff are courteous & accommodating.

Hotel location is perfect, as it is in the center of everything. Just right behind the hotel is Calea Cafe, which is a 'heaven-baked' cake for us. We love it!

We'll definitely book in this hotel again if we visit Bacolod next time.

Since L' Fisher Chalet has no Trip Advisor page of its own yet, I will just attach this review to it's sister hotel's, L' Fisher Hotel page.

The main hotel is much bigger and grander, though much older. The rooms are more spacious, but be prepared to pay almost double the rate, compared to their boutique chalet. Better dining facilities at the main hotel, but the chalet enjoys the advantage of having the rooftop pool.

On to the chalet, where my cousins and I stayed for almost a week last August 2012.

Pros: Newer building, boutique sized, and looking more modern than the main hotel.
Great location along Lacson St. - proximity to restaurants, malls, etc.
Rooftop pool. In the same level, there's a spa and small gym, and also a
coffeeshop where you have your daily plated breakfasts. They serve good
pizza, too. Try the Roasted Garlic Pizza.
Very affordable rates - almost half the price of the main L'Fisher.
Basically clean rooms and comfort rooms.
Fast and free wi-fi
Accessibility to public transport

Cons: Smaller rooms compared to its sister hotel
No nice window views, both hotels being situated in the city. Though the rooftop
pool area at the Chalet does give you a view of the sea.
Coffeeshop has very limited food choices, unlike the main lobby dining area of
L' Fisher Hotel.
Budget accommodations also come with budget meals, so all you get here is a
plated breakfast, tapsilog, longsilog, cornedbeefsilog, danggitsilog, tosilog and
that's about it. The L'Fisher hotel, on the other hand serves buffet breakfast
included in room accommodation charges.
Reception staff - friendly enough, but could use some additional efficiency where
customer service is required.

In summary, both the L' Fisher Hotel and L'Fisher Chalet are situated very ideally, specially for first time Bacolod visitors.

Personally, I would still choose to stay at the Chalet. The smaller rooms don't matter, as long as they are clean, and the surroundings are quiet.

To me, hotel rooms are just there for crashing the night, as when travelling, I like to explore and maximize the time I spend outside as a tourist/visitor, so a good, clean place to sleep, of course with a well maintained and clean bathroom to boot, is fine. I'm not a big breakfast eater, either, so the plated thing and a glass of juice is already okay with me.

Bacolod, or Negros, for that matter, is a foodie's paradise. Chicken Inasal, Batchoy, Kansi, Fresh Lumpiang Ubod, Pancit Molo, are just some of their homegrown specialties.

If you want to enjoy a nice, quiet dinner, without having to leave the comforts of your hotel, you can also have it at the lobby area of the main hotel.

Or you can have a quick, late afternoon relaxing dip/swim at the rooftop pool of the Chalet, and enjoy some pizza and pasta after. For those wanting to engage in a game of luck, the hotel also houses a casino.

Both hotel and chalet are connected to each other by means of a walkway.

As a guest, one can always enjoy the best of both establishments,
