A nice place to visit for the history, but not much going on or much to see. When we visit there where 2 tourists and 15 people selling ice-cream, pineapple etc...

It is in need of some maintenance and ground keeping, so hope they do not let his great tribute deteriorate.

If you need a photo to show your friends at home that will encapsulate what Tacloban is, this is where you should take it. The view of the monument, accompanied by the bay behind it is simply breathtaking. I cannot even imagine how many people have captured this scene during sunset and sunrise as it is probably the best view in all of Tacloban --even surpassing those taken in its beaches. The sight of the landing of MacArthur captured in the frames of a photograph would leave countless tourists amazed. The place is still well managed, with close to no litter anywhere.

TOURIST TIP: The blue food cart before the stairs leading to the statues that sell popcorn and mango shake is a MUST TRY. do not miss this, as the vendor does not know how good he has it. Look for the blue food cart with the orange roof and try his mango shake! I have tried a lot here in the Philippines, and I can definitely say that it is in one of my top five favorites. In fact, being that Mac Arthur monument is just a 15min drive from the Robinsons mall, we actually went here for a 2nd time with just the mango shake in mind.

The tallest statue is General MacArthur. You can stand right next to them and take pictures. Its only a few metres away from the beach.
