On getting to the resort: It was 5php for the gate entrance fee at Hilton Port and 15php each for the local boat ride to Olango. Avoid taking private boats huge rip off, the local boat is safe and relatively fun. Once at Olango you can get a Tricycle ride for 150php from the port direct to the resort.

The Accomodation: We stayed in one of the huts and it had a very cozy bed and great air conditioning. Including European toilet, sink and cold shower. Overall the facilities were perfect for us. The downside was that there are no lockers to keep valuables safe and very week WiFi connectivity from our room. Although, the room is lockable and you have your own key for the room and we were never robbed during our five day stay. The room was also very quiet and noise resistant and it kept out the mosquitos too. We received complimentary towels, soap, toothpaste sachets, and a simple toothbrush each as part of the room which was great!

The resort: It was very nice with a fence around the perimeter and staff monitoring the grounds, making us feel safe. The beach at the resort was okay but not the best for swimming in. They have mini golf, a small swimming pool, bicycles for hire and massarge services all available at the resort for a fee. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

The restaurant: Provided in the resort was delicious! Your first plate for breakfast is free. If you order more than one plate expect to pay for the whole meal including the first plate. Although expensive in comparison to local costs of food in the Philippines, we ordered plenty of food costing no more than £8 each a day, and the food was so good it was well worth it. We recommend the American breakfast in the morning and American pancakes with breaded chicken in the evening.

Olango and things to do: There are no ATM machines in Olango so stock up on Pessos for the duration of your stay, or prepare to do a detour back to Mactan island to the nearest ATM. You can break big bills at a local shop directly out the gate of the resort, since the restaurant usually doesn't have enough change.

The two main attractions are the bird sanctuary, which is about a 5-10 minute pleasent walk from the resort. There is a 100php entrance fee and you get given a pair of benoculars. Birds are most present on This pier during low tide. The other attraction was the Marine Sanctuary, located a bit before the bird sanctuary. You can swim and snorkel here. For a small fee. You can also get island tours here.

Stayed there for fiesta celebration. If yoy want a relaxing place right after the noise and crowd in town's fiesta then this is the right place to be. I just got disappointed with the food we ordered(sweet and sour pork) because they didnt inform us that it was spicy. I asked them about it and said they didnt mean that the ketchup used was spicy. I got mad coz it was for my kid and he wasnt able to eat it because it was too spicy. The rooms had spider webs already but it still looks clean. The staff was okay. The pool is not child friendly since it was too deep even for adults. I suggest that the restaurant and lobby shoud be open 24hours coz we got hungry in the middle of the night and it was far from the town. There was no front desk when we checked out at 5am which was very inconvenient for the guests. But still i recommend this place in olango coz it was one of the best there.

Went to Sagastrand last Sunday. The rooms are spacious and the place was nice. The FD where you can buy snacks or food is not open 24 hrs. We ordered our breakfast at 7am but it was served around 8am. We were already starving and the kids are already loud just wanted to eat. We ordered 4 bfast meal then gambas and carbonara. They served gambas and carbonara around 20 or 25 mns. mins after we ate our bfast meal.

There's not a lot of hotels in Olango, but Sagastrand is a decent place for families.
It has a pool which is a plus. It's right on the water, you can get a dip on the beach when you're tired of the pool.
Good thing they have a restaurant.
Food is basic, their sweet and sour pork was missing the "sweet" and leveled up on the "spicy". Their creamy shrimp pasta is good for kids because I think there's too much cream or milk, it did taste like milk.
Overall, it's an okay place to stay in.
