“Ok- nothing to write home about”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013 via mobile

We went on Saturday night for dinner at 8pm and were the only 3 there which was a shame as it is a smarter looking bar!
We ordered a pitcher of mojito which when it came was actually like cordial, water and rum with no fresh cucumber, mint or limes.
The menu had something for everyone but like elsewhere in the Philippines food comes when it is ready and there was obviously only one chef as the three meals came separately with us all having to eat alone.
The staff were very friendly and polite but there is definitely room for improvement!

“nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2013

I've stayed there one night and i can say it's a nice place. It's not only a resto bar but also a guesthouse. The room is ok but walls are thin so you can hear your neighboors. There's a view on the garden. Aircon, good bed, bathroom ok. In the morning i ate a very good breakfast.

When you leave, ask the manager to get a taxi for you so she will ask him to put the meter on without asking you additionnal fake fees.

“Very cool little hideout”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

I've read the reviews on here and agree with most of them. Complaints about mosquitoes and scary T.V. for the kids are unwarranted. First of all, this is an open air resto/bar, it's not a family restaurant nor is it indoor and sealed off with air conditioning. Please use your judgement before entering and/or ordering at any establishment to make sure it meets your needs. Also, remember you are on a tropical island in a third world country. I'm sure any nit-picker could look hard enough to find a few venomous snakes and spiders around to complain about also.

Secondly, out of all the similar atmosphere joints that I've visited in the Philippines, La Place may not have the best organized menu, but I've been here several times and undoubtedly has the best tasting food... Mosquitoes and scary T.V. be damned!

The bar is fully stocked, so after dinner or later in the evening, it's a cosy, fresh air drinking spot where many resorters like to chill, play darts, take a snack, have a few drinks and listen to music. La Place may be simple, but sometimes simple is better. I suggest a pitcher of frozen margarita... potent and thirst quenching. Filipinas get 'fall down' drunk on this stuff... I should know, I live on Mactan island and my wife and her friends can barely walk afterwards. ;)

“Ok experience.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

Couldn´t beat the Maribago Grill but didnt disappoint us either. Music was too loud, so we had to choose the dark side of the restaurant. Kids were afraid of the program the TV was showing.
I was glad blackout made the music quiet and turned the TV off.

“Simply the best place on Mactan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Stayed 6-13 March 2013 and cannot speak highly enough of "La Place". Ethel is yr friendly and very helpful hostess, accommodation is stylish (love the river pebbles in the shower). Service quality is just that and the whole place had the right relaxed friendly vibe maxed out by the staff who always had a smile and friendly word. The icing on the cake was the Restaurant quality food. After my first two meals I saw no point in going out to find some-where better to eat. Even the big boss is a nice guy.
