A place where you will consider everything as ripped off due to overpricing products and activities.
We stayed here in this 5 star resort but nothing in here justified us that this is a 5 star resort.
We had only little bit of enjoyment and this is only because some staff are good and also the our villa was just exeptional.

otherwise, everything else is a total ripped off.. im sorry to say this but i think this place needs a lot of improvement with regards with services and being a "5 star".

In my opinion I must say that this is a 5 star resort with 5 star COST, but you will only get less than 3 star satisfaction.

I wish this resort improve cause the place is perfect. but not the service and so much disappointment. i wish i have time to enumerate them. Just dont wanna bother cause we wont be coming back anyway.

This is a great resort with good value (as long as you're not taking anything from the mini bar) and I cannot credit the staff enough, some of the best service I have ever received. Large rooms, stunning grounds, great activities, good restaurants, great beach front bar- there are lots of great things going for it and we had a great stay. The only real downfall is te location, the beaches are all man made and which is fine to deal with having such a nice pool etc but the issues we had was Mactan Island itself, you can't walk to restaurants and need to catch taxis everywhere or 'resort taxis' which are far more expensive. There no beaxh connectin places so we felt a little cut off and restricted, plus outside the gates the neighborhood is a mess, a few decent places scattered around but no where to really explore.
Day trips are the way to go and we did a great trip down to Oslob but given the choice I do t think I'd go back to Cebu/Mactan. But I'd this is an area you'd like Crimson is a great choice, really can't fault the resort itself just the location.

To preface, we were traveling with my parents (60+), plus our two year old child. We chose the Crimson due to the value and the amount of space we were getting (not to mention the extremely positive reviews). We chose a beach view villa + garden suite that was across the pathway from our villa. We stayed there for 4 days, 3 nights. Here are some of our thoughts after our stay:

The staff was EXCEPTIONALLY accomodating.

We arrived early in the morning (by 10am?) via Cebu Pacific Air. They had a Crimson staff member waiting in the airport (we had called a week prior to confirm our confirmation and the villa included travel via airport to Crimson (approx a 20 minute cab ride). Not only did they accomodate the "2+child" staying in the villa (which was included in our price), they made sure they hauled a taxi that could accomodate the 2 other adults as well (4 with a child on a lap). The entire cab ride was included with no additional charge for the additional 2 adults (as long as they fit in our cab).

Once we arrived to the Crimson, the check-in process was extremely personalized. We were introduced to two individuals who were our main contacts throughout the stay (Mardin & John). Although there is an early check-in fee, they waived it for us and we were able to check-in to the villa several hours earlier.

I would be amiss to not recognize the exceptional staff that entertained and played with our child. Although our 2 year old was within our site with any given time (over protective parents), we did utilize the child facility that they had within steps of the pool to let our child cool himself off in the air-conditioning during the heat of the day. He thoroughly enjoyed the toys (trains, tv, books, coloring, blocks, legos, etc), that they had available in their 'activity zone' for kids, he also enjoyed the playground that was right outside the air-conditioned hut. The Crimson staff also had ongoing activities, which included a foam playground that they built each afternoon for a couple of hours with a ramp for rolling balls, running under ramps... and overall having great kid fun outdoors for ages from 1.5 to 8. The events were ongoing, the kids few (which meant better one-on-one time for the kids with the play staff), and the events they had were variant based on what they child wanted to do. Our son also had staff play water games with him when he was in the pool. When we ate at the buffet breakfast at the restaurant, the staff was also very eager to help our son pick out his fun and fill his plate. The list is endless to their involvement with our son.

The resort had a 5-star feel.

My husband and I are extremely picky and the crimson met, if not exceeded our expectations. the staff was consistently asking if they could get anything for us or help us, the sheets in the villa were amazing, we loved having the private plunge pool off our villa to dip into to cool off, the food was very well prepped (especially the happy hour, which was included with the villa - creme brulee, lamb skewers with a greek yogurt, several layer cheese cake with berries, ...not to mention all you can drink wine/beer/soda/cocktails during the 5-7pm timeframe if you are in the villa). The infinity pool had three layers, which were all great for floating in - 3.5 feet, 2 feet (for the kids), and 4 feet. Gorgeous view. More than sufficient poolside lounge chairs. There were also "double loungers" off the pool and facing the ocean (in front of the outdoor bar area). There were also sufficient loungers on the beach (with canvas tarp coverings or not). The staff was out on the beach prior to 6am (we are extremely early risers - 2 year old) making sure all the algae was cleaned from the beach, etc.

Set-backs.
Our parent's suite was not as well stocked as the villa was (complimentary waters, shampoos/conditioners, etc). They still got these, but not as much. The ocean was not clean (I am sure the staff cleaned as much as they could). My husband frequented early morning swims and the water was not the cleanest he has ever seen (there were water bottles floating, etc). The beach in general was relatively small (I am much more of a pool person myself - there was plenty of space in the pool). Our room also in the villa did get cockroaches crawling up the sink pipe to the cupboard under the sink. From the cupboard area they could not enter our room, nor did we see them anywhere else, but they were by the garbage in that very cupboard. Not an issue, but a nuisance. The staff immediately came to spray (while we were at dinner).

Overall, a great time was had by all. We would highly recommend this place. Although we did not experience the rest of Cebu, next time that is a must for us. We went for a relaxing/beach/pool vacation and it was completely satisfying.

Room Tip: Choose the beach side and closer to the beach - closer to walking to the pool or the beach.

Dear Kcline99,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent experience while staying at Crimson Resort and Spa. We sincerely value your comments in our continuous effort to provide friendly and efficient service.

I am happy that you and your family had a great time during your stay. It is always a pleasure knowing that Crimson has met if not exceeded our guests’ expectations.

I have noted your concern with regards to the amenities in your parent’s room which is not as well stocked as the villa. The villa is our highest category therefore would have more amenities than our other room categories.

You also mentioned seeing a cockroach in your room, I am sorry that you had this experience during your stay. I assure you that this has already been addressed.

Once again, thank you for your feedback and we hope to welcome you and your family back to our resort in the not too distant future.

Sincerely,

The whole experience was very good but the pool was not what I was expecting. The floor of the pool is so old and wrinkled, the water was so warm and cloudy, and it's not as big as it's shown on the photo.
The staff was so friendly perhaps too much, my boyfriends had a really small accident in the pool and the staff called us 3 times to see if everything was ok, even when i said that everything was fine at the first call.
We couldn't taste the fine dinning restaurant cause we just realise that it exists when we were living!!! Such a pitty
cause it looked really delicious!!!

The first thing that will go though your head about this resort is the location.... it is really really isolated. I was thinking as we were on our way to the resort, "this place had better be good because there was nowhere else to go."
The next thing you will notice is that once you reach the resort is the beauty of the place, very modern (a relatively new resort) but with just the right touch of old school Cebu. The rooms, the pool, even the restaurants were done with great design and architecture.
Ah, the food, let's just say that after 2 days in the city experiencing the best of Cebu food I was spoiled and nothing that this resort had would satisfy me (that's me being very generous with the review of their food)
All in all, a place to get away from it all, just remember to bring extra money because this vacation spot is not cheap.
