the restaurant is really rundown: the furniture need to be refurbished, the toilet needs to be fixed, the air-conditioner in the private rooms need upgrading...

The food is top quality but you pay the price for it.

It is best to visit the restaurant at lunch time where you can have set menus for less than 500 Pesos.

They offer a free pick up and a free drop service if you are staying on Mactan Island.

The food is unremarkable. Its typical japanese but not really a stand out. Expect food to be served in 45 minutes to even 1 hour. It is best to order some sashimi, sushi, or maki or else you will get frustrated waiting for your main course.

They have renamed the restaurant as Ku-Kai, but their website is retained as Kaishu.

We love Japanese food and we are regulars at almost all Japanese restos in Cebu City, but there is something at Kaishu that my kids love about. They say that it has the best taste but this is a subjective opinion on their part. Everytime we go there, there would only be a couple of occupied tables, some of the diners might have opted for the private room. Anyway, the place needs improvement in order to compete with its newer competitors but I can say that the food is very good. The salmon, tuna, squid and uni in the sashimi platter are always fresh. Tempura is quite good with a crunchy/ flaky batter. Agidashi Tofu is one of our favorites. The prices are on the higher side. If you are in Cebu City, this is not the place to go to. Only go to this place if you are in shangrila/movenpick and for others who are staying at other resorts, make sure that you have a dedicated driver, taxis are hard to come by, unless you are willing to take jeepney.

the placce was located close to the hotel I stayed at so I gave it a try with my friends. Food was ok, but overpriced and the furniture was completely worn out and really tacky. Certainly not in line with what you expect from a Japanese restauarnt

We walked out even before we had a chance to order. The place looks run down and dinggy. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived but it took so long to lead us to our table we had been seating for 10 minutes and no one bothered to give us a menu or ask for drinks at the least. We ended up eating in Shangri-La Hotel at Cowry Cove Seafood Restaurant.
