Lancaster Hotel Cebu
Reviewed July 4, 2012

Location is a little off, even cab drivers don't seems to know. The whole place is big maybe 200 units but only a fraction is in use, mostly empty without even windows or aircons. Lancaster is part service apartment and part residenial so you will find 2 pools and they allows us to use the residential side which is better condition. The reception of the service apartment/hotel is in a make shifted room on the ground floor besides the coffee shop/pool table which is a little unbieveable. Room we had is on the ground level and surprisingly quite nice and big but with old boxed TV, aircon is window unit which doesn't cover the seating area of the room but overall pleasant.
They are located off the main road and takes a bit to get a cab, SM mall which is 30 mins away is worth visiting but closes at 9 pm ???? There's a smaller mall which is 10 mins from the hotel which I do not recommend, really can't find anything to buy and across the main road of Lancaster is a Supermart 'Save more' with a few eateries and few shops that's all.
Overall bad for the image for the hotel with all these negative reviews but it's close to the airport and they provide a van to bring you.

Sadly we were booked in by Tim and he had not looked at trip adviser first! Dont believe the pictures on their website, not sure if they have been photo shopped but...... The toilet didn't flush the water was cold and the building is a wreak. Even though its advertised as serviced, its not! I have never stayed in such a dirty hotel. Believe me we will not be back. Tim booked himself into a a cheap 700 paso hotel not far from there and he had it all. Air conditioning, room service, hot water and a flushing loo.

The Lancaster is situated less than 1km off the airport and they do have complimentary airport pickup if you call in advance. Ours was late, but everything is late here. The price of php2300 (including VAT) is not unreasonable for the area.
Other than very expensive ocean-front resorts, the choices in Lapu-Lapu are limited to Pension Houses (~php1000/night), overpriced hotels like the Waterfront (php5000+) and hotels like the Lancaster.
I like the Lancaster because what money has been spent maintaining this aging appartel, has been spent in the room, not on a lavish lobby and things incidental to the rooms. Thus, while the hotel has a grungy look overall, the suites/apartment look almost new. Nothing lavish, but clean, with a good layout and good kitchen area and good lighting.
Even with a late check-in, the staff were pleasant and helpful. Wifi access to the room was good, but slow.

The photos of Lancaster Cebu were deceiving. Those were the Lancaster Manila Bldg fotos.
Overpriced and very far from city center! Hotels near Ayala Malls are even nicer and more modern at half the price only. Was a waste of money staying at lancaster :(

After a budget travel, we hoped to stay at a slightly better place for the end of our travels and were deceived by the pictures on iLink.ph (btw same as the one on tripA). Because of our rush to find something, we didn't check TripA, what we should have!

The pool is everything but nice, the attempt for the infinity pool was cute - overlooking a semi-parking lot and buildings that do look like a prison! (btw the pool was and probably will stay dirty)

The area of the hotel is in the middle of nowhere.

The hotel is actually meant to be service apartments and not a Hotel room, so unless you plan to live here, having a kitchen might be of use to you

The Hotel front doesn't even say Lancaster Hotel, but "something" service apartments...

Regarding the service it's not what you'd expect for that money.

The furniture seems to be at least over 10 years old and the couches are stained I would even say gross, I dont want to sit on that!

We arrived at the Lancaster on 2/18/2011. We booked for 4 nights. They put us on the 3rd floor on the other side of the property. We had to assist in carrying our bags. The complex is being renovated, and is not complete. On our Floor, there was no other people. The floors were Concrete, and the elevators very old. Although, when we were presented our room, it was very nice. The bathroom was clean, water pressure very poor, Kitchen nice and up to date. No coffee maker. Bed was comfortable, but not very much linen, blankets for our liking. The Air-Con doesn't work very well, must leave it on the entire time to keep the place cool. Has a balcony and a view of the pool. The nicest part, was the pool, but they do charge per person if you invite family, P250 per adult, P150 for children. It was worth it..I wouldn't recommend this place for families, unless you stay in the newer part, I am told the newer part is owned by another property, but there all connected?? God Bless!

Room Tip: Be Careful for the Centipedes.
