Arriving at the resort at 8PM was enchanting because the lighting and the foliage made me rethink if I was by the beach. The restaurant had excellent service and the food was top notch. Only the freshest ingredients were used for all of the dishes. Good company and good food made the experience at this boutique resort something to rave about and share to other would be visitors and guests.

We loved this restaurant.
The food and wine was fantastic, would highlyrecommend! Especially for a nice romantic meal.
More expensive than your average meal in cebu. But honestly worth it.

We were in Cebu for a Marketing and Sales conference staying at Shangrila Mactan. The conference ended on Friday, myself and three other colleagues decided to stay for the weekend. We would fly back to Makati on Sunday evening at 8pm but instead of staying in Shangrila we opted to move into Be Resort (formerly Microtel Mactan) because we were not willing to spend 9K per night for two persons. A friend recommended Be Resort and we were able to secure a room for four persons at 6.7K per night. Not bad, considering that its on the same row as Shangrila, has the same view and is less than 5 minutes away. On top of that its beside this restaurant everyone in Manila told us to try out .... Abaca.

Friday, we decided to have dinner at Abaca after checking into Be Resort. We learned that Abaca is handling the F&B concession of Be when we ordered afternoon snacks from the waiter. On meal #1, we ordered garlic clams (made with white wine, garlic butter and fresh chili) topped with crostinis, abaca flat bread (mushroom smoked mozarella, roasted onions, shave padano), and a whole roasted chicken (with french beans, mash, arugula and fresh lemon). Four of us shared the meal and we kept asking for extra crostinis because the garlic clams' sauce was soooo GOOD that we were "literally scraping" the bottom of the plate.

Day 2 for lunch we went to a local restaurant called Double A and ordered Pinoy food. Since we are Filipinos we definitely know what is good Filipino food. Side Tip --- at Double A don't order the liempo (it was soo tough). But on the other hand, everything seafood like fish head sinigang (sour broth), tuna kinilaw (ceviche), baked clams, broiled squid were all FABULOUS.
Dinner of course we ended up in Abaca again, this time we got goat's cheese crostini (served with caramelized sweet onions, basil salad and olives), abaca flatbreads (four cheeses - stilton, feta, mozarella and regiano) and mushroom tortellini. Then the piece de resistance was the dessert plater which included all the items in their dinner dessert menu (sugar overload was sooooo WORTH it)

Day3 lunch (since we were flying out that evening) was AGAIN in ABACA. This time we eac tried different items, I got the lunch set menu (homemade mushroom soup - SARAP!!!, herb roasted potato salad and peppercorn roasted beef with swiss cheese, horseradish and tomato) . My colleagues got the angus burger and prawn thermidor spaghetti. Then we ordered AGAIN the garlic clams to share.

The FOOD as expected did not disappoint. The restaurant is priced quite well considering the serving size, the ambiance, etc. On our first meal we paid about 800 each, then on the second and third meals around 1,000 each. We did not order wine since we were drinking already while sitting under our cabana in between meals.

Overall, i strongly recommend you seek out Abaca when in Cebu or to be very specific on Mactan Island. And if you have money to burn, check into Abaca resort which starts at 300USD. We managed to ask for a showroom and the suite rooms are the best with its own wave pools!!!! Truly luxurious!!!

This is the go to restaurant for a relaxing evening. This open air piece of heaven is my favorite place to go for special evenings. Everything I have eaten there has been wonderful. Fresh, well presented entrees, fabulous appetizers, wonderful shakes and drinks, you can't go wrong. Quite pricey for the Philippines but if you have a special occasion it is worth the splurge. Their beef is to die for if you have tried beef at other places in the area, tender, flavorful and perfect for an expat starving for red meat. The seafood is of course as fresh as possible and the presentation in perfect. Service is above reproach. I cannot think of any way to improve this place.
