“Good value for money in the downtown”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

I ve been to this hotel several times since three years and i ve never been disapointed...
Of course, this hotel need to be refurbish a bit but its quite good value for money and affordable in Cebu city, the second biggest city in the Philippines... Standard rooms cost 1000 PHP in walk-in... What could we expected more for this price???. Rooms are small but providing cable TV, fridge, safety box, twin or one large bed as choice...Nevertheless, the WIFI is a bit slow and only working on a few rooms ... (tip could be #205 or #206 to get the wifi)...
Staff is quite nice, all the ladies on the front desk are friendly and always smiling... the chambermaid is efficient, and a special mention to both security guards always friendly and funny...
The hotel is providing one computer in the restaurant at your disposal...
The room service is correct.
Located in downtown of Cebu city, walking distance to Mango Square (party), 5 minutes by cab to get Ayala Malls and 10 minutes to the Pier. Also near, restaurants, laundry, banks are fitness on the same streets.

I agree with some other reviewers that the place has become a bit run down, but it still represents value for money. The rooms are small but adequate. There was enough room for an extra bed. Bed okay but small pillows - but just ask for another. Air-con not noisy. Wi-fi did not work well. There was a notice saying this was due to recent typhoon. But there have been earlier complaints. The room smelt smoky on entering. Better if no ashtrays in rooms to discourage smoking. The location is central, close to Fuenta Osmena Cir where Robinsons is located. Its a P200 taxi ride from airport. Overall rating - 3/4 star.

Room Tip: Lift to all floors so floor level doesn't matter.

Rooms do not look like the photos. Lobby looks fine but room floors resemble a prison or a school. Rooms themselves are ancient and rundown. Wifi internet is almost non existent and could not be used practically if anyone else on my floor was also using it.

I checked out hours after checking in and wrote off the cost as a lesson learned.

I also noticed a number of expat men coming and going with young Philippinas which gave me the creeps, frankly.

The bathroom shower was disgusting and the sink didn't drain.

The rates are cheap but if you're interested in comfort look elsewhere.

Place is in need of renovation. Service is professional and friendly. My big gripe is mini bar, no pricing etc. I was made to believe water was complementary, was not. Would say very deceptive. So buy your own.

wow, this hotel has really let itself go over the last few years. I stayed in this hotel 5 years ago and again 2 years ago in the 'new' building and based on the experience booked it again for my last trip. What a difference! i dont believe any maintenance has been done since that time and the rooms are dirty and tired. I stayed one night and moved to the Golden Prince which although a little more money was a world apart. My advice to the owner would be to spend some money and revamp the hotel, The location is ok and not far from Robinsons if you can put up with the street sellers and beggars on the way

Room Tip: Make sure to see the exact room you will stay in before you confirm the booking

I stayed at the Diplomat hotel for a budget reason. The hotel facade was typically normal, lobby was nice and clean.. The rooms were clean and comfortable.. The Restaurant was nothing to talk about but did put out fair food... Remember you get what you pay for... This Hotel DID NOT have Free breakfast included with stay like many of the others do... I would stay at again...

We have been staying in this hotel before and not much has changed since.
The location is good but the surrounding is not.
Free Wifi for hotel guests and friendly service.
But oh boy the bathroom was already dirty on our last visit and this time it was worse.
It's time someone from the management take a look at some bathrooms and do something about it.
