visited here in 2012 and enjoyed it very much. the only thing i didn't understand is why you aren't allowed to take pictures in certain areas. the grounds are well kept and this is a must see.

visiting this large wood and stone house takes you back to the spanish era - how everyday life was, how families eat, slept, and cooked. i love how the museum allows us a glimpse of the bygone ages.

Right at this minute, there is some sort of renovation going on so delay your visit if you can.

I have visited the Casa Gorordo many times over about 10 years. It always fascinates me.

The Gorordo refers to Bishop Gorordo, the first Filipino Catholic Bishop in the Philippines.

The downstairs is made from coral rock and the upstairs from wood. The Downstairs is previously the storage space for grain etc and has some old artefacts on display. All the upstairs is residential and set up as it may have been when Bishop Gorordo was living there in the 19th Century. So, it is not an empty house. You can see the bedrooms with the beds they would have slept on, the bath he would have used, the toilet he would have used, the kitchen, the office, the sala etc.

There is a separate building on site which houses the toilets for the public to use plus a shop selling souvenirs.

The Sandiego Yap ancestral house is only about 200 metres away from Casa Gorordo and the Heritage of Cebu monument is a bit over 200 metres away from Casa Gorordo, around the corner.

The Casa Gorordo can be done as part of a walking tour of DownTown Cebu City while visiting other historical sites such as the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, Sto Nino Basilica, Heritage of Cebu, Fort San Pedro, Magellan's Cross, etc.

Casa Gorordo takes you to olden times where life was pretty simple with its wooden construction and furniture but I was surprised it has its own visitors' lounge. But during those times not everyone is allowed to go up the 2nd floor where the rooms and a chapel is located. A chapel? you may ask. Surprised as I was there's this small chapel upstairs. I visited this on business with colleagues and clients. will be glad to bring my famly here next time.
