“Crispy Chicken Skins”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

This is probably the best fried chicken in Cebu. Crispy and moist inside. Very flavorful! Though servings size is a bit small but it is worth a try. You can even order just crispy chicken skins which is sinfully good but better make sure your heart can handle all the cholesterol that comes with it. I would recommend this to travelers because you can only find this restaurant in Cebu. First time I tried it was 20 years ago..and their quality never changed.

“Very Average - but burger was a little better than jollibees!”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

The food was average. The prices fair or just a little high for value. The burger was better than Jollibees burger; but not as tasty as good ole Mickey D's (McDonalds). I did not try the chicken, but the tiered pricing seemed fair. I would go back to try the chicken someday. But, I was in the burger kinda mood. Actually, I ducked in here by accident during a terrible rain storm. The air conditioning was nice; and atmosphere was ok. It was between lunch and supper hours = about 3:15 pm....I could not get them to add onion to the burger so I gave that up. The burger came with homemade chips, a nice little touch. But, I really want a burger and FF (fries) but one had to order each seperately. I wish they had a combo basket deal : burger and fries. Of course any ketchup in Philippines is never like the USA. The Ketchup is so sweet and made with bananas???? I hate the ketchup here. McDonalds ketchup is not bad but still sweeter than the good ole U.S. of A. I like the vinegar, salty, Ketchup but thats not often a choice here in Philippines. Oh, the picture in the menu looked like it came with tomatos and onions; but the photo was tomato and cuccumbers....I swear the whiter object was an onion but the waiter would not budge. The customer is not always right here. Then, they wonder why tourist don't come back. They must do a lot of head scratching when they have no costomers or fw return customers. I'm not sure how the rationalize it; but they must. At the end I ordered a malk....yeah, sure. "NOT!" It was not a malt...had no malt flavor only yogurt fake ice cream and milk blended some. It tried to get them to add chocalate but no dice...no deal. They are never able to customize anything to please a customer for fear of the manager/ owner. I'm sure they have onions to make their soups and chicken dishes, but try to get a slice on your burger and they look at you like a gunfighter in the "ok Corrale". Tell me with a straight face they don't have chocolate to put on the milk shake? Please do not call it a malt - no barley malt flavor. It was ok...basically "just food!" but, nothing to tell a friend about. But, a fair deal compared with other places that skinned me alive.

“This branch Sucks”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

PLEASE EVERYBODY. The problem with Sunburst is that they have franchised out in Cebu. Therefore, this Mango branch has a different owner than the one at Ayala. Ayala Sunburst is very good. Sunburst Mango is very bad. Chicken parts are small, the taste is different and very oily, which means they cook the chicken when the oil is not hot enough. Their chicken crackers are not crunchy, and it has a flour taste, which also means they didn't cook it well. Serving size is also much smaller than in Ayala.

Don't think all Sunburst Cebu are the same. They are not. Mango branch's quality or the lack of it is similar to the SM branch. If you want to enjoy, go to Ayala, not here in Mango, not in SM.

“Thumbs up from my Son”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

My son's favorite food is fried chicken. If he says this is good, it must be good. Fairly affordable also compared to other fried chicken places.

“good first impression, surprising ending”
Reviewed November 19, 2011

today i went to eat at the sunburst at mango street in cebu, not the one in the ayala. nevertheless it is the same chain that offers the same menu. the nice and modern looking restaurant was full and i could only get a seat at the first floor. i ordered kinilaw (like ceviche) and their speciality fried chicken with coleslaw, fries and rice. as always in the filippines they serve appetizer and entree at the same time which i find very disturbing.
the kinilaw was good, it was made from tuna or the like. the fried chicken was a little bit too raw inside and the coleslaw was made with at least 50% sugar. the dish came with two!! small fries and a cup of rice.
(internationally everyone knows that fried food should be avoided at all cost especially transfats which are widely used here). unfortunately i did not find healthy choices on their menu.

i think it was the kinilaw which was made with lacking hygiene which gave me the runs a few hours later...
next time i will apply again what i always do in the philippines: cook it, peel it or forget about it
