The hotel is clean and okay. The internet connection was also very good. The staff were helpful enough specially when we had to make arrangements due to our flight changes.

The hotel in general is okay and really worth for what you paid for I think but do not expect some smiling and perky reception to receive you when you get to the hotel for check-in. They are helpful but was not very welcoming. Anyway we did not stay in the hotel much long. We only stayed one night but I had to ask my husband to keep me company while in the shower cause for some funny reason it felt so wrong and eerie lol. Could be my imagination.

The location was too far from the access of the jeepneys so you really have to call for a taxi. If you want to go around the city proper and easily move around then this is not really a perfect location. If you do not mind taking a taxi all the time then it is a good budget hotel.

Room Tip: the place is quiet so whichever room you get, you will have a goodnight sleep :)

I first stayed in Gran Tierra a couple of years ago from a recomendation of a colleague based in Cebu. The hotel the was fairly new and it was dirt cheap - less than a thousand bucks/person/night (stayed at a double room and added 1 extra bed). Last September, I went to Cebu again and stayed here. Booking was a breeze as usual. And there was a receptionist 24/7 (considering this was a fairly small hotel). We stayed again in the same room that I have previously stayed in. The room still looked the same though you could already see signs of wear and tear, like the oscillation of the air conditioning unit was mot properly working, discolored plastic doors of the bathroom and icky rust from the bathroom fixtures. What irritated me this time was that the bathroom was not properly cleaned. There were small iron crusts that fell off in the shower area, and there was a used soap in the bathroom basin. The bathroom curtain was too short to the point that the whole bathroom floor was wet. And the bath towelsare horrible. They look like old white rags with stains and mine had a hole even. Just make sure to bring a pair of flipflops you could use while taking a bath and your own bath towels.

What i love about this hotel is its location-just a stones throw away is Bo's Coffee, a few minutes walk is the Larsian (grilled everything hawker stand) and the super affordable price.

Well, our first meeting with Gran tierra wasn't as good as expected. Firstly we've seen that this place had 4 stars, which, in Sweden at least, guarantees a really nice place. That's not how we experienced our room. There were bugs all over the place (for example woke up with bugs all over us in the bed) and the Staff didn't seem to be worried about it. They offered to clean the room. After some complaining we did get to change our room and the new one was much better.

The rooms feel different though, so kind of a lottery to know which you get. Our second room was good and we stayed there for 4 nights. Staff didn't seem to be very invested, but was very kind to us.

It was really cheap and "you get what you pay for" fits very well here. It is a good budget hotel.

We have stayed twice in this hotel on separate visits to the queen city. On both stays we found it quite a nice deal. Imagine paying less than 2k for a family room? They have such nice beds. My hubby and I even lifted the covers to see what brand they use. :) Clean and comfortable rooms. They give you cheese or yema roll upon check-in to ease hunger pangs from your trip. Sweet touch! They also placed water dispensers in strategic locations along the corridor which is very considerate of them to do. Water is always one of our big expenses when on a trip. You have to keep hydrated! So there, for anyone who might be looking for affordable places to stay in Cebu. without sacrificing basic necessities like comfort, safety and cleanliness, Gran Tierra is the place for you.

We stayed at the hotel for 5days and 4nights. All I can say is that, our stay is absolutely stress-free! Super nice staff and super clean room. Though the wifi is sometimes intermittent, it is tolerable but there are water dispensers just outside the rooms where you can easily grab free purified drinking water! :) The hotel is located in the capitol site which gave us more access to the places where we want to visit. Like STK Ta Bay!, Zubuchon, Cebu's Original Lechon Belly, and more! You can also, easily grab a cab or ask the front desk to get a cab for you. For less than 5minutes, cab is there! It tends to get a little bit noisy sometimes but is tolerable, not to the extent that you will be awaken. The complimentary snack is also super good! They serve cheese rolls and yema bun and it tastes so good! The hotel is also very affordable at P989 per day for two. The service was awesome and the rooms are very clean! Will definitely stay here again when we get the chance to go back in Cebu!

Gran Tierra suites is a very nice hotel. We stayed there for 5 days and 4 nights for a friend's wedding and also to stroll around Cebu and Gran Tierra was such a nice place to relax after a tiring day. When we checked in we were greeted by a friendly staff and there were cheese rolls and yema buns waiting for us as complimentary welcome pastries. Actually, the yema buns were the reason why I asked for us to stay at this hotel (LOL). We paid P989 for two but honestly the room and the bed can accommodate 2 more. Our friends stayed at JL suites and it was freaky and looks more like a hospital. We were very happy that we chose to stay at this hotel.

PROS:
Great location, very near food places in the Capitol Site i.e. Bo's Coffee and STK Ta Bay!
Friendly Staff. The staff are ultra friendly and will cater to your requests
Clean Room. Rooms are cleaned everyday and upon request and will look and smell as clean as when you first checked in. Towels were replaced everyday, sheets will be changed upon request.
Big bed. There were two double beds combined together, good for 4 adults and the beds do not separate as what the other review was saying. The beds were heavy.
Warm tones in the room. Because of the lighting and the color scheme, (plus the flooring is not ceramic tiles) the actual room looks more expensive as it is.
No need for an elevator. You don't need to wait for an elevator because the rooms are just in the first or second floors.
Free Water. There were two water dispensers in every floor and you get a pitcher and glasses so you don't need to pay extra for bottled water.
Very nice T&B. The T&B was spacious and hot water was not coming out of a heater, instead they had hot water built in to the shower system just like in an expensive hotel.

CONS:
Small TV: If you came in to Cebu to watch TV then this would be a big issue.
Noise. Outside noise were not totally cancelled out but muted so you can still hear cars passing by the road next to your room. Also there was one morning when we were awaken by another guest next to our room making the wall separating the two rooms his personal acoustic cajon drum.
Not too Popular. The hotel is not too popular to Taxi drivers so you might need to do a little more explaining as to where the hotel is.
Shower Curtain. I think the shower curtains were too short or it was installed incorrectly, as the whole bathroom gets flooded after we shower.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side near the road might be a little noisy.

We stayed there just for one night, march 25, a day after our wedding coz it was next to the hotel where his parents stayed... we were gonna send them off to the airport on the 26th so we had to check in at a hotel somewhere near them. :-) good thing that Gran Tierra was still available.

At P989 for two pax, we already had a clean room to stay with the basic amenities we needed. We checked in at the room on the ground floor at the farthest end of the right hallway.

Pros:
-nice location... Just walking distance to "eats" and convenient stores (e.g. 7-11, Bo's coffee)
-automatic door lock and good door lock system (I see this as a pro coz safety is my husband's priority)
-walk-in closet (there were a lot of hangers which were really of great use to us at that time)
-water station at the hallway which was right outside our room (it was really convenient to get hot/cold water anytime we so desire...it's expensive to always buy cold bottled water when ure thirsty)
-pitcher and two glasses (we're water freaks hehe... We drink a lot!)
-hot/cold shower (I told you we're water freaks! :-P)
-bidet (very convenient for those emergency situations! Hehe)
-adequate toiletries and towels
-wide tv!! (Good for my poor visual acuity)
-NO ants (the other hotel where his parents stayed at that time had so many ants..)
-free welcome snacks... Many! (I think they run their own bakeshop... I forgot the name... Maybe, Cardinal Bakeshop?? Forgive my memory lapse) hubby loved eating them
-free wifi in the room

Cons:
-our room had two single beds so we had to merely fuse them to form one big bed... So there were times that those beds moved apart like an earthquake ripping the world in twain hehe
-no free breakfast (but it really didn't matter coz price was cheaper and we just had ramen or cup noodles coz there was hot water at the station outside.. Besides, we usually eat out)
-wifi in the room was not that strong or sometimes intermittent (I can open fb but I uploading pics was sluggish... Wifi at the lobby was stronger...)

But all in all, the pros outweighed the cons. If I'll be asked whether I'll stay here again or not, I certainly would :)
