I love Banri and its location (crossroads) which is very accessible any time of the day. If your craving for Japanese short meals, drop by Banri in Banilad. Recommended are their Gyoza and Tempura. Their Gohan/Chahan is also good.

Compared to restaurants in Japan, this place can qualify as a hole in the wall facility. It can satisfy one's instant cravings for Japanese food if one is not too picky. The price is reasonable, the food is mediocre at times, and the ambiance reminds one of the hawker centers in Singapore. I feel there's some hype in publicizing this place, or perhaps the quality has gone down through the years? The premises are a bit messy and real Japanese customers will likely frown on the poor representation of their esteemed culinary culture.

Visited Banri a few days ago in the late afternoon to avoid the busy lunch hour when many Japanese eat there. Excellent free appetisers. Ice cold glasses for the beer! We ordered salmon sashimi- wonderful thick slices, followed by tonkutsu ramen. Well prepared. Always a pleasure to go there. Staff polite and know their food! If you are uncertain about the choices they will guide you.

Comfortable Japanese restaurant located in Crossroads, with tasty enough food. Large illustrated menu.

We selected tonkotsu ramen (P380) which was tasty but broth a bit oily, and yosenabe (P450) which was a better deal, with plenty of seafood, veggies and tofu. When we mixed the hot bonito based broth from the yosenabe with the tonkotsu broth, thought we had created a winner.

Tamagoyaki (P150) not particularly memorable, but complemented the dishes. Did not see ajitama on the menu.

Ambiance and service were pleasant enough, both evidencing Japanese ownership/management.

Had a lovely dinner here tonight. We were staying in a local airport hotel and wanted somewhere family friendly (have a 3 year old). This lovely restaurant was the only place that suited our needs. Fresh sashimi, good udon and free green tea. Good service and frequented by lots of Japanese folk too!
