I stayed there as it was one of the cheapest dorms and i had to catch a flight the day after from Cebu Airport.. the only good thing is the staff, very helpful and kind but the place was very dirty and security non existent. Yes they have lockers in the room but the main door doesn't close at night. Bathroom is very very dirty (and trust me i am a very flexible person, backpacker and i even slept on concrete so you get my point)...

The atmosphere was very unfriendly in there even if there were common areas they were also pretty dirty.

Bed sheets were ok and the lower beds had a curtains for extra privacy which was a bonus. Other than that i think this is not a good deal for the price (almost 400 pesos!)

Room Tip: At least get the lower bed with curtains and always put your flip flops to get to the bathroom...

I selected this place due to its roadside location where the Sinulog mardi gras passes by each year. Alas its location is one of the best asset of this property. Don’t expect too much though since this is like a hostel or backpackers haven. Don’t expect 5 star lobby, extravagant seats and posh furniture. The truth is the place is like an old house where you feel at home-very laid back and with the basic amenities in accordance to your room type. We rented a family room and it was ok pretty much like a boarding house type. The room has hole, cracks, decoration is very old and a little dusty. The bathroom is okey though some area of it accumulate some water that doesn’t know where to go. The kids have fun with the room. We used it as our “Hub” for the sinulog even where my mom can rest after standing in the streets for hours. The kids can just ran back to the room to grab something to eat. Overall, it was worth the budget that I paid. No regrets we have fun and we have a good night rest. We even brought our little dog with us. Thanks, Cebu Guest House. Til next Sinulog.

Room Tip: Nice place to stay during Sinulog Mardi gras.

I had an amazing stay at Cebu Guesthouse. The staff was really friendly and helpful, rooms and bathrooms were clean and cozy, sleeping area was quiet, and they provide lockers so long as you bring your own padlock (which is an essential piece of equipment if you are backpacking). The hostel is located on Mango St. which is a pretty convenient location for catching jeepneys to the mall, or to any other part of Cebu City. Be aware if you are a male and foreign looking and step out for a midnight snack you will be harassed by "ladies of the night," and in many cases "ladyboys of the night." All part of the SE Asia experience...

Othere guests at Cebu Guesthouse were also awesome. Met some pretty amazing travelers and locals with great stories. There is a little dining area downstairs which served as a great place to chill with other travelers, have some food, and drink a few beers (these things are not provided by the hostel). There is also ample common space by the rooms so you always have contact with people coming in and out of their rooms.

Overall really loved my time here.

If you are looking for luxury or a "hotel" this is not the place for you. You are better off spending some more pesos and going elsewhere. But if you are looking for an awesome time with awesome people in the fashion of true travelers and hostel style living this is a great place to stay.

In the words of a famous American... "I will return..."

Room Tip: I did not stay in any of the downstairs areas next to the kitchen or the laundry room which did seem...

This is the second time that I have ever encountered a place like this. My family and I were hoping that we could spend time together and truly explore Cebu City and be able to get a good night's sleep at a place that cost not much. When we checked in the hotel, I knew it would be a bad place to stay. The time we checked in, the place was very hot and we proceeded to the room. The doorknob was the worst I have seen in all my life. You had to share one bathroom with all of the other customers which was not a very good idea. There were magazines that were scattered in their lounge to which the staff didn't care about.

If you are planning to go to Cebu and find a place to stay, don't stay here. I recommend you to stay at the hotel in front of this, named Mango Hotel.

Room Tip: Choose rooms that are on the second floor to be able to avoid the noise from the highway.

Checked in January 13 and stayed until the 16th only because i didn't know where to stay in Cebu City. Was travelling on a budget but should not be an excuse for such quality.. I was placed originally on room E at the ground floor near the kitchen and laundry area.. a small cramped room with the door lock which seemed to be defective.. took me 10 minutes to figure out how to unlock the door. bathroom was so dirty that you would really think twice before taking a shower.. sad.. they moved me to the second floor (room 7) which was a slightly better room.. there were cockroaches and the smell of the room was terrible..

door knob was old and rusty but was replaced when i went around the city on the 14th.. they could have informed me that they were changing the locks..

all in all, if you are not that picky with cleanliness and on a budget you can stay here because of the location.. but i heard there were other budget hotels that have better facilities..

The staff are friendly, the place is cheap but it's not clean at all. Saw cockroaches inside the room. But then if you pay cheap you can't really complain. OK for backpackers. Very accessible. Just don't expect much.
