“A unique gastronomic experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2014

Aside from visiting the usual tourist spots and attractions in Davao City, a food tour is a delightful activity that must be included in your itinerary when visiting the city. One of the best food tours that you could join is Mel's Davao Food Tour. I had the chance to join one of Ms. Mel's food tours and it was so informative and fun! It will not just let you taste the local delicacies but will also feed you with information about the food you're eating. It is truly one unique gastronomic experience!

“Great way to explore Davao”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2014

Whether you are from Davao or just visiting Davao City, Mel's 5+ hours food tour would be a good way to experience the highlights of one of the most livable city in Asia, taste some of its local delicacies, and appreciate what the city has to offer with a very dynamic and knowledgeable Davaowenya tour guide.

We started off in a privately hired jeepney who brought us to the biggest public market in town (Bankerohan). Weaving though vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, eggs (we did not go to the wet side of the market selling meat and seafood), we were brought to a small food stand to enjoy a breakfast with hot chocolate laced with palm wine (tuba) and sweet sticky rice (puto maya). After buying some fruits and flowers, we headed to an orchid farm to appreciate the beauty of these exotic plants.....Mel told us that Davao is often called the City of Blooms and is the Orchid Capital of the Philippines. Then there was the visit to the Pasalubong Center, a one stop shop for Davao products and the Bone Collectors Museum, followed by the much anticipated visit to the Durian Park where we enjoyed and savored the durian (yummy). The last stop was at Luz Kinilaw Place to get inihaw na panga (grilled tuna jaw) before heading back to Bahay ni Tuding Inn for a sumptuous lunch with law-oy, grilled tuna, and aligue rice.

So much to see and still so little time, but definitely a food tour to remember. Would suggest wearing casual clothes and a comfortable walking shoes/sandals. Bring some loose change in case you want to buy some stuff along the way.

Next time we visit Davao, there are still more things we want to visit from historic landmarks, to different parks, and most importantly more food tripping!!!! So we will see you again Mel's Food Tour and thank you for the memorable experience.
