“Nice: some really good, some dated”
Review of Eden Nature Park

Had a pleasant day at Eden. It was probably THE place to go 20 years ago, but the format is a little dated now. It's a nice day with the family and they have plenty to do. Perhaps not the best thing for just adults. Pluses: cabanas to eat fish you catch and they cook, Sky Biking (scary but fun!), Zip lining. Not so great: tram tour of park: a little boring and formulaic but the grounds are nicely maintained and the flaura and fauna is nice. It's a nice day though overall.

My almost three-year hiatus in Davao City wouldn't be complete without this long-delayed travelogue to Eden Nature Park. Kadayawan festivities during the month of August, is a unique home-grown event among Davaoenos that continues to attract both local and foreign interests. Throwback 2013. I had the pleasure of celebrating this month-long merriment of abundance and harvest with some good 'ole friends from the past.

The friendly commute means of Davao to Toril would take you high above the city heights towards a hill where there are beautiful sceneries wherein you can unwind, relax, play and reflect. Eden Nature Park, for me is such a classy, underrated yet comparable to all other famous parks of the world. It should be there in anyone's itinerary when in Davao!

And what's even more facininating about the park is that, it is 95% man-made, and continues to be a major haul of the region's premiere crops like pomelos, mangosteen and the "drurian" of various kinds. Whatever entertainment you have in mind, be it a wedding, a reunion, an outdoor overload, or a simply a full-day of environmental tour, Eden can literally transform your stay to something paradise. And that's a promise! ;-)

We waited for like more than 2 hours to be accommodated. It was awful and the experience was only brief but the price was pretty reasonable. It was only for Php 200 and you can experience the newest adventure in town. Overall, we had fun! The kids enjoyed horseback riding, the aviary, and the playground. Love their buffet lunch as well! My family had a great time! Thanks Eden!

The park is sprawling and is well maintained. My group came to visit for the afternoon. We took the tour van and was guided by a well-informed lady. The tour ends with a merienda that is packaged with it.

Fresh clean air is most enjoyable at the park, where a wide variety of flowers and fruit trees are planted, along with vegetables and herbs. Macadamia trees abound too. Large stands of pine trees spread across the park provide an invigorating scent of pine, which travellers won't experience anymore in most places in Baguio. A butterfly farm and museum is accessible near the main entrance.

Hiking trails along forested areas were pointed out during the tour. These are ideal for guests who stay several days in accomodation facilities. At various spots, there are replicas of tribal houses. In one village, a short cultural show was performed.

Capturing the beauty of nature in this park, for the appreciation of a greater number of people, is one legacy of Eden's founder Mrs Fe Ayala whose vision is hopefully pursued with continuing determination by those who have stepped into her big shoes.

A holiday trip in Davao is enriched with a tour of Eden.

Spectacular views and wonderful wildlife, can get busy at the weekends. About an hour outside of Davao but worth the drive.
