The caretaker was so helpful in explaining to us the habitat of Phil eagle. The first place we visited upon arriving in Davao is the Phil Eagle Center. The place is clean with well secured location. Vendors are very courteous. We really enjoyed our visit. This is once in a lifetime experience for me to encounter this great eagle.

If only to see and appreciate the endangered but magnificent Philippine Eagle, I would rate this place a 5. We were fortunate enough to have a free tour guide named Obet (I think) and his explanation of the eagle’s life cycle (i.e. only 1 eaglet every 2 years, 2-year courtship before becoming a pair for life, etc.) made our visit more enjoyable. To see the eagle up close is worth the trip. This center should be commended for successfully breeding the eagle in captivity and hopefully avert its near extinction. The place could do with better housekeeping and it clearly shows that funding is probably not enough. But their efforts to save the Philippine Eagle should continue and receive more support. Perhaps an experienced marketing person can help come up with more ideas to promote this place and raise funds. For example, sales of souvenir items (not just t-shirts) in the same way that Disney sell such items.

the Eagle Center is a must-see for all first time visitors to this city. It represents a valiant, continuing attempt to restore the Philippine Eagle, hunted to the point of eradication, to its rightful habitat. The birds are magnificent, and beautifully exhibited in larger enclosures; the guides (often local college students) are knowledgeable, friendly, and respond eagerly to questions.

The place itself is set amidst lush local flora, and seeing the latter would be worth the trip even without the eagles.

This is an excellent way to pass a pleasant, educational afternoon.

The place gives one hope. This is a breeding place for animals in near extinction. We donated for the study and preservation of our Philippine eagle.
