We like hitting the Mandarin; they are everywhere and not expensive. In Davao, we ate at the Mandarin near San Pedro and just down from the small Gaisano. In this particular branch, we found the portions, claimed on the menu to be for 3, barely enough for one. We returned one of our dishes as it didn’t look like the photo at all and was so small. It seems that they removed the extra curry sauce etc, who knows why. They then brought us the plate that looked like the photo, hey what is going on here.

The table was dirty when we sat down and had to ask to have it cleaned. The staff friendly, but the experience was not overall positive and with so many great places to eat in Davao, this place misses the mark.

We were looking for a place to have quick lunch within the Gaisano Mall area and found ourselves choosing Mandarin Tea Garden on the top most floor. The place was packed but we easily found a table just recently vacated by its recent occupants. First, we were turned off by the manner they dished out and cleaned the table. They simply dumped everything into one bin - food, plates, drinks and all. Then the same person takes out a wet towel from his utility belt to wipe the dirty table - then puts it back in the belt pocket! Then the same person takes our order and serves our food. Hmmmm?
I ordered wanton noodles (good wanton!!), spring rolls (hot but a bit oily) and machang (flavored rice with chicken, pork, etc). We gathered their specialty is fruit salad served with cream because every table seem to have this dish but we did not try anymore.
Upon visiting Abreeza Mall later that day, we found there's another branch within the mall. It was much cleaner!!!!! The venue always makes the difference between a favorable and not so favorable dining experience...

Straight from Cebu (after touching down @ Francisco Bangoy Inetrnational Airport), I together with my friends had our dinner @ Mandarin Tea Garden (Rizal, Davao Branch). As I love to eat toppings, Mandarin fits me much. Money has great value, as you can have a rice with viand already... Love to it wherever Mandarin is located...

For less than 500 pesos we had several dishes and a full tummy. Surely worth your money!

mandarin serves a blend of chinese and filipino food. it is a chain with many branches all over davao. the decoration is simple. one feature i like the best is the open kitchen which is only separated from the restaurant by a large glass window. it allows no cheating. bad hygiene could be noticed by all guests.
i go there regularily. most of the time i order a soup and one of the toppings. in total i pay less than for fast food for a healthier and better choice
