“Best British food in Davao”
Reviewed February 27, 2010

On our last visit to Davao we stayed at Drifters Apartel where Pirates Pub is located. We knew we were in the right place the evening we arrived when we saw that strongbow, one of my favorite british ciders, was on sale for 90 pesos. Sorry we drank up all the sale stock but I'm sure it's still available at regular price. They also had a buy two cans of guinness get the third free special going and ice cold san miguel draft in frosted mugs for 35 pesos. As for the food it was very good. There used to be a bar in downtown Davao called O'flannagan's Pub & Restaurant that we went to a few times on our previous trip serving really good Irish food and I was disappointed that it had closed. While talking to one of the bartenders at Pirates Pub I learned that the old cook from O'flannagan's was cooking at Pirates Pub. Great burgers, fries, calamari, fish and chips, chicken curry, lasagna better than most you find in the Philippines and more on the menu. They also serve filipino dishes such as kinilaw, bihon, tuna steak etc. that my wife said were very good. I pretty much stuck to the tasty sheperds pie, one of my all time favorites, bangers and mash using really nice, I believe, SwissDeli sausages and the great thick burgers with large cut fries. We also ate breakfast there once and my wife said the boneless bangus was good as were my fried eggs, sausage and beans. The place is a little out of the way but well worth the trip for great british food and beer.
